It's nice to be able to connect directly from Google Maps/Mapquest, but sites like www.SundayMorningRides.com have been offering web to GPS data capability for a while.
SMR offers targeted maps in native GPS (for Garmin, TomTom, Magellan), GPX, Google Earth/KML and even GeoRSS.
