I agree you need to have a

I agree you need to have a blend of these together but case in point SEO is really marketing and if your marketing something you should have a clear path for the visitor to go from search engine to customer and stops or barriers along the way should be looked over and removed.

Balance

There needs to be a balance between usability and SEO.  If you get people to your site you need to convert them and a poor experience on a website will kill your conversion and sales.
