UK Tells ISPs To Get Tough On Piracy

Law could be proposed

Massive Fail

Being a web developer, I believe that this will merely encourage even more piracy. I don't believe that ISP's should have the right to monitor what you're doing on the Internet. How can an ISP know if you're downloading a legal file from The Pirate Bay or an illegal file from The Pirate Bay? There is no possible way they could know.

I can see this as having a backwards effect on ISP's and people wrongly having their accounts disabled when they did nothing illegal. Of course we all know that there will be a workaround for these big brother checks if they are enforced. Hackers are large in number and nothing gets in their way.

....

For years the United Kingdom has struggled with many internet "media" issues with regards to items like child pornography, Illegal item sales and many other topics... I have to say that seeing the sucess rate with the previous campaigns this one will be just another flash in the pan until they find something else to bitch about.
