Microsoft & yahoo
It’s far too early for Yahoo to say how Zimbra will potentially evolve under Microsoft management. After all, the Microsoft-Yahoo mating dance has only just begun.
Difficult to feel bad
It's truly difficult to feel bad for any of the three majors, since they make such massive amounts of money.
Old news
This is old news. Never know which SE is going to goto bed with another nowadays, I am sure there are tons of backdoor deals being done that we are not aware of.
Big Mess
The whole thing is a big mess. All of the businesses are in it for money, position and leverage, so unfortunately it is unlikely that the end user will significantly suffer from it.
When Will It End
Brin has nothing to worry about, since MSN has a difficult time getting anything substantial together in the online search field

Look Whos Talking!
This is an interesting stance Google takes. How can Microsoft and Yahoo not play hair against a very monopolous search engine. Google has now partnered in providing Yahoo search results, so unfortunately they have now taken another big piece of the pie, in part, due to MS ineptness to get the deal done.
Preventing Mergers - First sign of a Monopoly
As always, Google finds a way to prevent and destroy mergers and partnerships. Part of it is simply smart business. The other half comes down to the big boy at school leveraging everything he can to keep his position.
Unfortunately with Google.com there is no room for other search engines or alt engines. Google seems to swallow up and buy out as many companies as it can that leverage its' ability to keep control of online search.
huh?
Microsoft and Yahoo: the AT&T connection
I have AT&T DSL service, which provides users with Yahoo mail rather than providing an AT&T branded email service. It is badly cluttered with text ads that are impossible to block without breaking the web based mail access.
While this is an annoyance, it will only get worse if microsoft gains control. I use Linux, not windows. I don't want more ads, or worse yet ads for microsoft, integrated into a mail service that is provided as part of an internet service i PAY for. I DEFINITELY don't want the ad revenues going to microsoft.
Even more important, I don't trust microsoft. I don't want them involved IN ANY WAY with my email service.
MS and G
I hope they could eat each other but they are too smart to do that. Thats bad. I'd be happy if they could killed themselfs.
Microsoft vs Google
Competition is what inspires creativity and creativity is what creates momentum. I agree that Microsoft will take Google down a few steps and make it start listening to it's users again, Google will always go for the option that better benefits it's users.
One has to think though, is Microsoft only going for Yahoo! because it is trying to beat Google? Or is it only trying to purchase a web service that people will actually use unlike it's MSN search engine ahh.
Even if Microsoft doesn't end up purchasing Yahoo! I hope that Google has received their wake-up call.

Microfost vs Google
Anyone know what the "fight" is for. I use windows, but because of software conversion I can't switch to linux, any distributon. So i'm in the situation to use windows even i don' like this. I use Google, but before they appear on the internet i used, wigh good results, altavista.com ; So, now altavista and other search engines did not find the success "receipt" and I have to use Google. The world oh internet has more steps to do for the users, and not only the internet world, also the software producers, too.
MS has not been good for anything
I don't fantasize over Google. All corporations work to bring value to their shareholders. But you have to be blind comparing Google to Microsoft, in terms of ethical business. Microsoft in over 20 years has not contributed anything to advance computer technology, but have used predatory practices to muscle everyone else out of business and go after the dollar. Google is rich from introducing innovative technology. Microsoft is rich for dumping lame technology. But people still want more of it. I feel pity for them. I do not use anything Microsoft and I have done so for almost twenty years.
Good. Thank you Microsoft.
Call me moron if you want here but if Google is frightened, I am happy. It can only be good for us users, marketers, etc. Google needed this shake up. They are very arrogant and want to own the world while being evil.. Not saying Microsoft is Mother theresa here but it was about time a good oponent would rise up to Google. Google has abused its users way too much. They are very arrogant and should be put down like a bad dog or their attitude adjusted. Soon you'll see many changes at Google and the abuse at a minimum. Users will always win. Thanks Microsoft!
Now we need Facebook to enter the game too which will make the arena even better for users.
yea Brin is just out to
yea Brin is just out to protect all of the rest of us. please! How self serving can you be
You Have Got to be Kidding
PROTECT US? LOL Has anyone ever had their adsense pulled and not known why and had no explanation for it because Google is too busy to explain????
They need to be ratcheted down several notches and I hope Microsoft can do it.
Go MS!!!!
