I think that for most webmasters its time to stop chasing Google. Google unfortunately has never in my eyes been up front enough to give us a clear indication of what it considers a properly formatted web site that its bot will crawl or what it expects in order to index a page. This is truly the case when it comes to ecommerce. What does a cat have to do to get a decent pagerank in order to be competitive. Personally in my view its smart on their part to ignore sites selling wares because it means that retailers have to advertise to get traffic. Its wrong but smart. Earlier this year it grayed out more than half of the pages on my site. On some of the pages I was selling manuals which at the time could not be found on the net. Since then others have bought them and reprinted them but thats another story. This was original content yet googlebot would not index the pages recently I have noticed that the pages are showing up on the serps but they are still gray. What does that mean?? Google is a Public entity and a leader in the search engine market and I feel that as citizens, users, clients and shareholders in some cases it is time to find another company to patronize. Although successful Google does not live up to the hype. Yahoo is sounding better every day and I actually get a fair bit of traffic from them. Enough crying all I am asking for is a clear owners manual Google can you provide that????

Tend to agree Jaan. I'm not seeing a whole lt to lead me to believe, that as far as the searcher is concerned, much has changed in regards to what they are delivered for their queries. Personally, I'm still seeing longtail queries where there's less than a page of relevant exact phase matches not showing up for a general search. Additionaly, when using the site: operator, there's still a clear delineation between te pages that "were in the RI" and "were in the SI".

GOOGLE SUCKS! Why anyone still uses this over-rated search engine is beyond me. They invade people's privacy, they penalize adsense users for no reason, and people with good websites never get seen. Why is everyone so GA GA over Google? Brainwashing that's why! Yahoo is a far better search engine with much more relevant results. IXquick is better as well and they don't invade your privacy. And one that few people know about is Clusty. This one breaks things down and clusters them into relevant results. Don't feed the Google behemoth! Four year Google hell? Google can go to hell for all I care!

This is very funny when looking back at all the huff search marketers and webmasters made when they removed the supplemental label from search results. They can all take a deep breath and sigh in relief now :)
