Search Neutrality Before Net Neutrality

Attempt to have a user driven search engine

Hi,

Search engine have full power over what you see and don't, the only way to have search results that are objective is to use user's feedback and a voting system that reveals true interesting content from marketed information.

I attempted to address this problem by pulling together a pilot:

Basically, it uses most common web engines to pull together some results, that can then be refined by the users (results can also be suggested by the users).

Hope it can be useful, let me know what you think about it,

Marc

Google's Hypocrisy

You bring up a great point David. I highly doubt Google would embrace "search neutrality." It really bothers me that Google is so smug when touting net neutrality and save the internet in the name of free speech, which is all a bunch of exaggerated hooey. At the same time they prioritize searches.

Search Neutrality and Al Gore

You have it exactly right. Functionally, lack of search neutrality has the same effect as lack of net neutrality, but is more insidious because people don't think of search engines as "editorial" in nature. Al Gore, who happens to be a major Google investor and advisor, is very outspoken in favor of net neutrality but strangely silent about search neutrality.
