Google Analytics Vs Others
No matter what happens, Google Analytics shows results which are reliable. Though, its very difficult to tell which analytic tools is the best and provide accurate result.
analytics and stats
There's no reason to trust only one statistics gathering source. When Google's Analytics started having problems it was just an inconvenience depending on other sources for the information... now that Analytics is back going, I'm starting to depend more on other sources.
Unreliable stats?
I use 2 services to tract my main site, one is Analytics and another that is paid. I use to always have discrepancies, but lately its almost non-existent. So, I guess Analytics is getting better.
I'm not buying the "no data loss" bit
My account shows a huge dip on the 28th then back to normal on the 29th. My other tools show no dip on the 28th at all. In fact, the 28th had higher traffic than the 29th. I'm convinced Google lost some data, and they don't seem to have a way to fix it - even manually. I guess I'll just have to keep a mental asterisk next to the 28th as I peruse my reports.
