Should I stop publish my
Should I stop publish my articles on article directories? I used to publish my articles, but now I wander should I stop doing this, because the risk of duplicate content penalty.

Is there away to avoid duplicate content on blogger blogs? My site has only three posts and has the same content appearing every where on the site? Any recommendations that I should take to overcome this mess?

Is an RSS feed considered duplicate content? Suppose our RSS feed is displayed on more than one page (as on a blog with archives and category pages), or on a social networking site. Does that work against us?
Duplicate Content Imppossible Issue
After reading the articles on duplicate content, I can honestly say that it is not diffiult to prevent duplicate content throughout my own website. However, the duplicate content becomes an impossible issue when there are have a dozen other company websites that have stolen my content (and sometimes pages and design on a whole).

Obviously the search engine people such as Yahoo, Google, Ask, etc have a problem with duplicated content.
The search companys should post advice on their home pages on how to avoid this and describe the problems it can cause them and the website designers. This way it can be avoided.
By just raising the issue at a conference the problem can only be tackled piece meal.

I wish I know what you meant in this context "attribute". (Duplicate content). I find site who has taken my content all the time. Without turning it into a full time job, seems there's little I can do about it. Search engines suck, especially yahoo.

I know that Google, and many others, think that Google is the greatest thing since sliced bread, but my experience with both Google and Yahoo "searchers" is that they do not tend to be my buyers as compared to MSN for example. So I am worrying less and less about what Google wants.
Having said all that, is it duplicate content for a business to have a similar or even identical content web site when they conduct the same business in more than one location...for example Dallas and Fort Worth. Where one url / web site could be dallashomes.com and the other fortworthhomes.com, as examples, but have the same content on both of them. Where will the line be drawn over "penalties" for people trying to conduct business in multiple markets?

What does it mean when the article talks about:
"Amit Kumar, Senior Engineering Manager, Yahoo Search, said that Yahoo tries to crawl links from duplicate, less; so fewer visits from the crawler could mean that the content may be considered duplicated. He added if you get content from somewhere else you should attribute."
I m wondering about how this attribute tag or whatever it means by attribute content works?

With the idea that you'll get dinged for duplicate content, does this open the door for a competitor to create a site that copies your site simply for the sake of knocking you off the rankings?

I understand the concepts of timming duplicate content, but I see an issue which I've not heard mentioned at all.
Sites which run stores for certain types of products (ie: same product with different categories) have a real issue.
Example: I run a website which sells design templates. Thousands of templates which are identical but for the category they are under. So I need a new page for each category of template, BUT the content of each page is basically identical (as the templates themselves are brought in with a few lines of code)... So the basic template of that page (and every other product page) is identical except for the title and category heading.
What can one do about this?

I have a state A page and a state B page. I want both to see a link, the same link. Are you saying create One page with a link on it, and have both states refer to that link.
Google Dup Content
Google needs a method of cleaning duplicate content completely out of the search engine when they are notified of it. They can't penalize the site that IS NOT duplicating content when they're the ones leaving the duplicaters' caches in Google. Somebody will manage to get a lawyer to sue them for copyright infringement in the cache. They should be held accountable when they penalize people's web sites when they're the ones at fault. I lost months of income and just finally got them to remove the last two pages, yes TWO, and lift my penalty. What they did to me is not right.

So what about copying your blog out to the major blog sites. Is that bad news as well?
