Jason, as usual, you make some good points. But people should be careful what they wish for concerning trends and web traffic. Our little Bahamas news site (bahamasb2b.com) was blown away by visitors seeking the latest Anna Nicole news. After traffic increased by 1000 per cent, our server stopped responding. We learned that, like in the deep blue seas of the Bahamas, when fishing for the big trends, one must be prepared for what they might catch.

I think that's good advice. Let me add to that there are guides to "surviving the digg effect" of sudden bursts of traffic.
