make sure you record times and dates and name of person you spoke to.  Have them record your conversations.  My husband and I were with Verizon 7 years and always had hidden charges.  When I wanted to transfer our numbers over to another carrier I called and asked them if I idid it 2 days before my contract was over would there be any penalities.  They said no.  They said account would still remain active until I cancelled it.  We transferred our numbers over and when I called to cancel contract sure enough they had closed account and charged us $175.oo eraly termination fee.  Of course when I contested it they had no proof of me ever calling...convenient.  I reported them to the Better Business Bureau but they said the same thing..no proof of me ever calling.
