I find it extremely odd that a building like that was built and the swastika symbol from an aerial view was overlooked. Seems very suspicious!

The building you are referencing is the old German POW barracks at NAB Coronado. It was built in the shape of a swastika to identify it to German and more importantly Japanese Bomber Pilots that it house German POW's. Apparently there was a very real concern that san Diego could easily be a target of AXIS bombers in the early part of the war.
