Be Glad You Don't Work for UPS
I feel sorry for the employees of one of the UPS hubs. They receive emails like "Don't make me have to ask twice for this!
Get it done tonight!
Slit ***** fleet between you and get it done.".
They also get yelled at over the phone as well as in person and they are treated like misbehaved, stupid little children. Same on UPS acting like that!
I was an independent
I was an independent contractor for Fed ex ground. I have recently sold the route. Reason for post is I saw firsthand. How FED EX management's only concern is to get the packages out of the building. What I mean is as soon as the packages are on the outbound trucks. They become the sole responsibility of that contractor. That means your "package" is being handled by a driver who is working for a contractor. Making $75-$100 a day. Working in excess of 10hrs a day. Here is an example of the service you might receive. Sanofi - Pasteur is a shipper who uses fed ex ground (Pittston Pa. Armstrong rd.) a"driver"did not want to return to the terminal in Pittston pa. with packages that he did not deliver. For fear of being reprimanded by management. So this driver scanned all of the packages as delivered placed them in a bag and hid them outside behind a rock near the terminal. These packages were later found and it was brought to the attention of management. Oddly this driver is still employed with FED EX. They preach "integrity" is there #1 priority. Really?
I will never use UPS again unless it is the only option left
The company that I work for uses UPS as a shipping method and we have complaints about lost or damaged merchandise on a DAILY basis. We sell many breakable items and when we have a lot of packages they just throw them on the truck, LITERALLY THROW THEM ON THE TRUCK because it takes less time. We have said something to them several times about not throwing the items and also have mentioned it to the supervisor that comes here in her gray Hillary Clinton pant suit and blackberry issued to her by UPS to try and smooth things over. Quite honestly we lose more money shipping with UPS but unfortunately that is not my call to make.
Regardless, knowing how inept this company is I had personalized memorial buttons for a breast cancer walk this Sunday printed up and sent to me via UPS that shipped out to me on October 1st, From California to New York. The package was last scanned in NJ. Lo and behold it was lost by UPS somewhere between NJ and NY. A mere 50 mile radius. Now I have to try and get the company (which is closed today for Columbus day) to remake the pins and ship them out to me in time for Sunday which is not going to be possible because they would need to reprint the pins and put them together and get it from California to NY by Friday since UPS doesn't ship on weekends. This is not the first time I have had a problem with them and I will never ship through them again. I know that not all of their drivers throw the boxes or not every box is lost or damaged but my experiences with them have been more of a headache then anything and I can't be bothered.
Shipping Services
I currently use a website called www.e-delivered.com it provides discounted shipping rates both domestic and international for small businesses. You can get set up one of two ways: as an individual shipper or as a company where you obtain your own login. Depending on your volume you can save up to 50% off overnight US carriers which is difficult to do if you do not have the volume to merit that kind of discount. So check them out at http://www.e-delivered.com
Owner of the UPS Store in the city of rosemead

UPS is the worst company to
UPS is the worst company to deal with. I just tried to drop a package off at a UPS Store for delivery tomorrow. It was 5:05 and the driver said he could not wait for me to go into the store and get the little plastic envelope to hold my already printed label. Their website states that the last pick up is at 5:30. The damn driver left 25 minutes early. This is not the first time at this location. The other time I dropped the package at a few minutes before 5:00 and the tracking showed it did not get picked up until the following day. This driver must go. This is at the UPS store at Eloa and New York in Aurora, IL.
Said delivered but never showed up
I am so dissapointed with UPS. I paid to have a package overnighted for delivery today. Then I check tracking and it says we were not open so the package will be delivered the next business day. We have been open since 7:30 AM. I called the local UPS and they said unfortunately my address was one of many they deceided not to deliver today since it is Good Friday. And, I need to get my refund from the shipper!!! Neither I not my business will use UPS again. FedEX will get all of my business from now on.
I've been on all sides of the argument
I worked for UPS for 7 years, from 75 to 82, starting as a p/t unloader and leaving as a manager in hub operations (metro ny-43 st)
I run my own business and have used ups, fedex and usps and there are advantages and disadvantages to all.
fedex has the best tracking system and seems to refuse to pay any claim. they are cheaper than ups for air shipments, if you have a contract that gives discounts, or, belong to an organization that gets a discounted rate. their billing system has to be examined with a fine tooth comb-every bill must be compared to the air waybill cost generated in fedex ship manager. they change the bills without notification. their ground service is fine, except when something unexpected happens, like a job action at ups in 97-their system had a meltdown that took 6 months to recover from.
ups has been the most reliable service for my business-we have used them since 1982 and had only 4 claims in that time-all paid without exception, except for an international, which we had to sue in small claims court. the day of the trial, their attorney appeared and said they would pay in full-and they did.
usps is generally the least expensive-however, their tracking system is practically useless. if your shipment is relatively low value and you do a lot of volume, priority mail is a great deal, although they just switched to dimensional weight.
Bill Israel
throw it at the door
Ups!!! We ride by, throw it at a porch or door and then we are off. If you don't get your package, file a claim. And our response will be, " We delivered your package, because we said we did" case closed. Believe me people, that's how it works. Been there, done that!!!! You know what? The address they say they threw the package at, doesn't even exist !!!
UPS won't delivery
After 5 years of success delivery by UPS, they refused to deliver to my house the last 3 deliveries. They claim they can't make it up the incline on our street during the winter. FEDEX does, the garbage man does, everyone on our street does.
So every delivery by UPS is delayed one day because they send it back to the hub, call us to make other arrangements for delivery, and deliver the next day. We all pay a pretty penny for UPS and then they don't deliver! We will surely let everyone know NOT to use UPS.
What can Brown do for you? NOT MUCH!!!!!
Big brown is being exposed
I've been in mangt with UPS for over twenty years and it has been a terrible time. The relentless conf calls and berating that mangt takes is not right. The demands on one's time is ridiculous, the average Full time supervisor works 11-13 hours per day ? The last five years have been worst then ever because we have had such a brain drain of our solid leaders and now with battlefield promotions of people who have little or no success, we are being managed by a cast of idiots. Talk with a UPS mangt person and they will tell you their retirement date, why? because they can't wait to leave. Most of us cannot afford to leave due to a pension at the end of our term. But there is hope, UPS paid out over 80 million in a major lawsuit with our part time supervisors. The lawsuit was about abusing this groups hours, (making them work 6-7 hours per day) but only paying them 5.5. This lawsuit has caused a fault line thru the higher ranks from Atlanta right down to us lowly Full time supervisor's. We are threatened at least once a week about this lawsuit and to monitor our people's hours. When in fact it was upper mangt who looked the other way on this practice. Although we are salaried employees I believe that there is a very strong under current brewing across the company that we should not be mistreated, berated or overworked to the degree that we have been and this lawsuit was the first opening for us. Want proof of this nasty enviroment? Ask the next UPS driver you run into about him or her joining the mangt ranks and be ready for their response of complete anger or a loud laugh. In the past we would have a bench of 2-3 employees per operating center waiting to become mangt. now there is hardly one per operating district? FYI, I am still employed at UPS, and I am not one of those "dirtbag" mangt people that upper mangt has looked down upon. I am fortunately still in good graces with upper mangt and I am looked upon as a leader for my operating center, so I do not post this material as a scorned, irrational revengeful person. I post this information because I want the other mangt people at UPS to stand up and help change our company back to the way it was before. As many of us say to each other everyday, "What was once a career, is now a job". By the way it is peak delivery season and evryone is being e-mailed daily not to have their drivers go over the DOT rules of 60 hours, but how many mangt people are on the road more then 60 hours?
I'm a part-time sup. at ups.
I'm a part-time sup. at ups. I've had 5 coordinators in the 3 years I've been there. I noticed 2 of the 3 were sucessful. The 2 that were: Knew how to manage and talk to both the supervisors and the hourly's. The three that weren't hated their jobs and work a lot of hours.
UPS...way too expensive
I agreed UPS has to be one of the worst companies ever. I quoted for !CAD$1000. After receving 5 packages with weight 69.3KG. UPS charged me for CAD$1767.5(Freight) + $609.79 (Fuel)=TTL shipping charges is: CAD$2,377.29!! They said the collect charges will be different from the quote I quoted online. If I know the collect charge will be doubled, I wouldn't use UPS for sure!!
UPS to partner with DHL largest Reseller Worldwide Express
Get Ready UPS drivers. UPS just partnered with DHLs largest reseller Worldwide Express- www.wwex.com
Get ready for double the work because all the sales reps from worldwide are going to be converting as much DHL business as they can and as fast as they can. DHL is changing their operations in early 09. Worldwide must now completely shock the UPS system and drivers. There will be many regular daily pickups added to the UPS driver already loaded to the tilt. This will happen all over the nation.
We will see how the driver network of UPS handles the sudden shock of the new business. With DHL changing, all UPS had to do is just let the DHL customers come over without the help of the DHL reseller. Not sure why they needed them in the first place. There are now fewer choices in the shipping industry.
With all the complaining on this blog just wait until the only two carriers know that there are really no choices. See how they handle your claim then.
UPS - 99% good ???
I paid UPS to ship a package from the USA to Canada.
It took just over twenty four hours to get from Minneopolis MN to Mount Hope, Ontario, via Louisville KY and Buffalo NY.
Then the delivery was "rescheduled" !.
I phoned UPS.
My package will now sit on a truck for the next THREE DAYS less than 20 miles away, and there's no way I can get it delivered or pick it up.
So UPS is 99% good - unfortunately the last 1% is what matters !!
Had my parcel imported into
Had my parcel imported into Canada, and it stopped there. It sat for 16 hours in Concord Ontario without moving. Concord is about 5 blocks from Pearson (Toronto) airport. It arrived in Ft. Eire Ont. at 3:20 PM Wed, and didn't leave Concord until Thursday at 4:17 PM. I wonder where it went now.
....and now it's Saturday Am
....and now it's Saturday Am and the pkg left concord, and is unaccounted for for the last 28 hours. Enough time to circumvent the globe 2-3 times.
Yikes
The dog team must have made a right turn at Winnipeg. Sunday night and still unaccounted for. If it wasn't the dog team then somebody must be driving around Toronto with my car parts on their car.
Delivery Services
I have used a number of different companies when needing something delivered. I even enjoyed some of the new methods for tracking packages online however since I found a local delivery service in my area, I have used no one but them. All of my packages have been delivered on time without any issues which is a welcome change. Especially since many of my deliveries involve sensitive materials related to my business.
UPS sucks
I honestly dont understand how UPS can stay in business. I dont have any huge horror story about things being lost or damaged just that they only try and deliver packages between 9 and 5 when most people are at work. Lets say you do stay home from work and wait for them, well then they dont show up in their specified time frame (or once did not call my number that I left on the door for them because the manager wont fix the d*mn buzzer). So the next option is to pick up your package, but the note doesnt say where the depot is like the US postal service so you have to call the number and speak to the directory system... say you want 'agent' not opperator like every other directory operating system, then the directery asks you if your sure 'YES' or else I wouldnt have asked. So that is how you find out where your package is and for a city like Seattle its not centrally located... its down by the boeng airport where you need a car to get to; and are they going to pay me for the gas or time it takes me to drive the f*ck down there? So really when you ship UPS you should add at least 2 hours staying at home waiting for the package, 20 min navigating the web site to find out that to get the address of the depot you have to call, 10 of the most frustraiting min. of your life navigating the phone directory to talk to a real person, 10 min. talking to a person who will be very sorry YOU feel that way (dont have the most idiotic parcel delivery system known to man and I wont feel this way or did you forget you are providing a service to a customer), conservative 40 min round trip to drive to the depot costing an again conservative estimate of $5 in gas. In total add $5 and 3 hours 20 min to the cost of any package you plan on recieving from this service.
liars
Be aware, that UPS will post note on tracking that the business was closed, and they play stupid allllllll day long. Due to their lack of knowledge the package is lost, and if it's lost how can the driver deliver it?????????....to add insult to injury they just lie, lie, lie, lie..........BEWARE UPS DOES NOT CARE! LIP SERVICE IS NOT CARING! THERE IS NO ONE THERE TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY! JUST PASS THE BUCK! THEY HAVE ALL KINDS OF DISCLAIMERS TO PROTECT THEIR IGNORANT ASSES........THE BOTTOM LINE IS THAT LIARS ALWAYS GET CAUGHT UP IN THEIR OWN LIES>>>>>>SAD TO SAY "BROWN" GOT CAUGHT WITH SHIT ON THEIR FACES>>>>>>>>
UPS LOST PACKAGE
I HAVE HAD A PERFECT EXPERIENCE WITH FEDX. NEVER A PROBLEM. I SENT A LEAKY BOTTLE, AND THEY PAID ME WAY ABOVE WHAT IS WAS WORTH IN LESS THAN 7 DAYS,.
NOW ON TO THE WORST SHIPPING COMPANY: UPS
I paid $1800 for an expensive Keyboard. Had the seller ship it from Florida from Pack and Ship. Package:: 74 pounds: Five feet long. Should be easily recognized, Right??
Got the tracking info, and followed it all the way to Vernon, CA. With delivery supposed to be on 8/5/08 to San Diego. Well, what do you know. Can't find it.
So, they wouldn't take a trace from me, even though I paid 1800 to have it sent. They wouldn't give me updated information, and still, can't find it.
So now, after scraping up this money, by selling some personal items, I have to go through this crap with a company that could care less. All you can get is:: Sorry, but it will take 1-8 days to trace.
Well what happened to a 74 pound package? Who could have dropped the delivery when it was already in Ca to deliver to San Diego.?.
Hopefully I won't lose every dollar I worked hard for, but NEVER, NEVER, NEVER, NEVER, NEVER, NEVER WILL I EVER SHIP UPS!~!!! IT STINKS...
SORRY EMPLOYEES, BUT THIS IS JUST PLAIN CRAP. We're not talking about a 2 pound box. But FIVE FEE LONG, 74 Pounds... And you can lose it?? Are you crazy??
Can anyone tell me where I can put this further in the public eye.
If so, email me at mrdb@roadrunner.com Dan Evans
I may have to sell my car to pay for their mistake. Do they care/?? I don't think so!!
Keyboard Found
Here's the update to the story everyone.
First, I had call after call and got a phone number for a level up on trace.
They found the package in Utah in unclaimed/label missing.
Finally gave me a new tracking number, and it was delivered on the 13th.
So, it arrived. Great news. Bad news is:: There was some damage. WHY?? BECAUSE THEY DON'T HAVE BRAIN OR ENOUGH HONOR TO KNOW HOW TO PACK THIS AS IT SHOULD BE....
Now it isn't all bad, except the shipper only put 100 insurance on this $1800 purchase. Well, the wheels on the case were pulled and almost destroyed. The rivets holding the wheel casings were pulled away from the case.
That will have to be fixed by a luggage shop, unless someone out there has another suggestion that would help me here in San Diego.
"The keyboard has a broken Right cover which is only $80 but the labor will be over 100 because they have to take it apart.
The music holder was broken as well. The seller told me he it tight on money also, so I don't know whether he will send me any more than the 100 insurance, so I will probably have to spend some more to get this the way it was suppose to be.
Lesson: FIRST, NEVER BUY FROM ANYONE YOU DON'T KNOW.
THE ONLY RELIABLE TRANSACTIONS I HAVE HAD LIKE THIS WERE ALL THROUGH EBAY. AT LEAST THERE WAS RECOURSE, AND THE SELLERS HAD TO WATCH SOME INTEGRITY. THIS SELLER IS ALSO ON EBAY, AND HE SAID TRUST ME.
Thought all of you might like to hear the "rest of the story"...
Take care people. Remember, there are some good people in this world. Few,, yes. but some. Try to find them and keep them in your world. It may be the only sanity left to hold on to.
Lost keyboard
Dan,
As a 20 year UPS driver and a bass player in Instant Replay, ( youtube..type "Dweighn" in the search bar)....I have a couple of thoughts.
The reason you could'nt get anywhere with UPS is because Pak-n-Ship sent the pkg on their account....so all claims go through them.
Packages over 70 pounds are hand-carted through our facilities..they rarely touch conveyor belts but they "tangle" with other pkgs weighing in at 150lbs for their duration.
My "guess" is that the label attached by Pak-n-ship was scraped off by another over-weight pkg. Ups stores attach a label and hand-write the address as well. My "guess" is that the keyboard was held in limbo until a claim came through or was sent quickly to a UPS warehouse where the public can purchase un-claimed..un-labeled UPS pkgs. Sounds like UPS jumped the gun on that one...but their would be a record at the Vernon hub. I would go directly to the Vernon Hub and try to have a customer counter employee have a "packege Clerk" do a quick search for an un-claimed keyboard at the time yours was missing. You'll be doing Pak-n-Ship's job but I think you'll get results.
We have cameras everywhere..metal detectors and property searches in and out of the buildings. There's no-way the pkg was stolen if we didn't track in to a package car. We ship 9 million pkgs a day and sometimes we fail a shipper..but most of the time it was a shipper error. EVERYDAY I re-affix labels that were put on at a high rate of speed at a shippin outlet..everyday.
As a professional musician I can understand how you feel and wouldn't even try to stop your crusade to bad-mouth UPS. I'm just hoping to give you a little more info on what might of happened.
Ups knows that an unhappy customer reaches around 90 people with their complaints. We've been in business for 101 years and we do everything possible to avoid what happened to you. All of our trucks have active GPS tracking and technology is coming to place chips in every package we ship.
Sorry about the keyboard, hope your music is going well...I'm just a driver but know your frustration.

UPS down town Napa Valley the worst service
Will I dont even know how to start. I uderstand that packages get lost, but trying to get a manager or some one to help you is a nightmare.Small town not even the owners Bill and Patti Myers will return my calls. I just want them to know how there store is being run. I sent two bottles of wine that I needed for a tasting that never made it. So I called UPS to try and see what happen. I found out I mailed my wine by an independently owned franchisees. So I had to call the store to track my wine. I found out that my wine was placed wtih a wrong label by a store employee and was sent to Texas. The manger said she would refund my charge of $82.40 that never happen. I balance my check book today 15 days later found the mistake. I called Toni at the store and she said that it because I did not give her my CC#. I told her that she and an employee Brittany told be weeks ago that I was refounded. she stop me in med sentence and told me in a rude voice just give me the number to credit your card. I've called the store 4 times now. Toni has told me that my package of wine has been mailed back to her store, but yet I have not heard back so when I call she tells me when she gets the wine she'll call me again in rude voice. As if to say I'll call you don't call here any more "with out saying it." I ask her today what the problem she said that the company that ship Alcohol for her NOT UPS has not gotten back to her. I ask when was she going to call and let me know this. She said that she'll call when my wine is return to her store. HELP I DONT KNOW WHAT TO DO. IS IT LOST AND I FILL A CLAIM OR WHAT FOR MY NEVER COMING PHONE CALL FROM TONI. My only hope is to have Bill and Patti Myers call me back, but they wont. Many places in the Napa Valley to ship wine. I will tell all my guest at Domaine Chandon Winery not to ship wine at the UPS store on 2nd Street down town Napa. Service is ill in the higest extreme. My stomach hurts every time I call the store just to ask a question.
UPS, LORD!!! The worst service in the World, do not ship UPS !
Ohhhhh Lord!!!
This is something as normal for UPS as for their organization employees go to the bathroom to...!!
I was looking for Info about UPS customer satisfaction. The same happended to me. On April 5th 2008 I called UPS to arrange and pick up and delivery from New York to Atlanta, because I moved I picked up everything and choosed Ups for the delivery "Bad decision".
Ok, The driver went home New York and picked up Four boxes, including a 46' flat Sony Bravia LCD, "NEW" "NEVER OPONED WITH IT ORIGINAL PACKAGE" WITH ALL THE PROTECTION INSIDE WITH FOAM IN AVERY CONER AND IN THE FRONT, UPPER AND LOWER PARTS OF THE TV IN THE BOX, OF MORE THAN 2 " HEIGH OF WIDTH AS THEY REQUIRED'.
The thing is that they broke the TV THAT COST ME $2,000.00 PLUS TAXES. when I called the first day they told me: We already know we broke the television, we made the report, someone will go to your home to pick up th Tv Back, and whent we determined what happended will will give you a refund.
Days later I called, The answer was 'We are sorry but we wont pay you the Tv. They sent the TV back to NEW YORK, Now the TV is also lost. they have not idea where is the television. They still saying they wont pay me(Fist they broke it, and now is lost}. When I called to arrange the pick up no one offered extra Insure, neither asked me if I wanted to declare the value. When I asked 'What about the value, the stupid girl that I was talking to told me You do not have to declare the Value!!!
After four months I decided to sue UPS IN COURT: I hope all persons looking for a Shipping company, never go to UPS. HORRIBLE THE EXPERIENCE.
Look what their allegations are:
Also they are sending bills home saying tha I did not pay the delivery, even when I paid them with the money order number:08817057230. for $367.06.

Do not ship UPS, Please!!! I do not want the same happen to you.
I agree, do not ship with UPS.
I'm there with you. I buy 80-90% of my purchases online. In the past I had also baaaddddd experiences with UPS shipping. The boxes were always damaged and smashed. I now do business with Amazon. For the past 2 years I never bother to ship other than regular ground and Amazon has used USPS (United States Post Services) and I never got any problem with them. Yesterday I wanted to buy a computer thru amazon and finally deicded to use their Prime services. Today in the morning I noticed that once you start using their premium services "prime", Amazon ships thru UPS. Well it took me less than minutes to cancel the Pime subscription.... I will never buy things online if they will be shipped thru UPS.
ups????........ran by idiots????
$91.25 to ship a package from kc to the uk...........had insurance as everything arrived broken.............getting the shipping fee back even though they packed it??.......forget about it!!!...........don't worry 'bout a thing!!!.......sure, right.............worst customer service ever experienced.........scew ups and their little neighborhood stores........bad word of mouth is the best advertising.........i hope their trucks die!!!!
