Google Loses French Trade Mark Case

Google vs the French

Google, as an American firm abroad in France, might have to look at French law more deeply imo.

I cant say I dont agree with the issue of brand names. If someone types in a brand and its competitors come up. That is exactly what Google was trying to prevent with its 2002 - 2005 web spam removal. They did not want site purporting to be things they are not.

So how come Google has changed its mind about this? "Don't be evil" they used to say. Well now it is a business giant what can you expect. They are money driven. Business can be seen as immoral anyway. When you are driven by money and shareholder, what can you expect.

What I would say to them is go to a Meridien hotel or resort. Have a look and feel of what a top quality French business is about. Then go to some of the cheap establishment that will be coming up in their adverts. They will understand what Meridian is talking about.
