Yes, adsense can work for you if you really put some effort in deciding on your ad placements. Earlier I was getting $2 per month, but after some effort I was able to make $2 per day. Not much, but still good enough to keep the site going.

In my opinion, Adsense is only successful with very high traffic websites. Even if your are getting a few thousand visits per month, you probably won't make a lot of money. Affiliate programs tend to work better for low traffic sites as the profit margin is much higher.
