All eyes were on Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder at PaleyFest 2014.

The Vampire Diaries co-stars were involved in an offscreen romance for several years. They went public with their relationship in June 2011 and announced their split in May 2013.

If fans were hoping for a red carpet shot of Dobrev and Somerhalder together at PaleyFest, they were disappointed. The two kept their distance, appearing in larger group shots, but never with just each other.

Somerhalder attended PaleyFest last weekend as part of the Lost 10th anniversary panel. He was seen arm in arm with another ex-girlfriend, Maggie Grace, both on and off the red carpet, sparking rumors that the two may rekindle their former romance.

Somerhalder and Grace dated in 2006, after their step-sibling Lost characters were killed off.

Dobrev and Somerhalder have starred on The Vampire Diaries since its inception in 2009. In January 2014 they won the People’s Choice Award for “Favorite Onscreen Chemistry.”

When the two took the stage to accept the award, they joked about the history of their relationship:

“We started dating in real life,” Somerhalder said after summarizing their onscreen romance.

“And then we broke up in real life,” Dobrev added.

“And yet our characters are still dating on the show,” Somerhalder continued.

“It’s a good thing it’s not awkward!” Dobrev quipped.

PaleyFest is an annual event named for William S. Paley, founder of CBS and the Paley Center for Media. The two week festival includes episodes or highlights of featured television shows as well as panel discussions and question-and-answer sessions with the casts and crews.

Besides The Vampire Diaries and Lost, the PaleyFest 2014 line up includes How I Met Your Mother, Mad Men, Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., The Mindy Project, Orange is the New Black, Parks and Recreation, and Pretty Little Liars among others.

I don’t get the Dobrev-Somerhalder together forever hype. This past year has shown how very different their paths and personalities are. I believe Nina was holding back a part of herself before, and Ian really deserves someone who is willing to go the distance with him. He is in his thirties and a beautiful guy. It takes more than two people looking cute together to cut it in the real world.

I see Nina Dobrev as a self centered person. She can put on quite a fake smile it is so dazzling and hard to believe she could be that cold bitter person everyone is claiming she is on set. (extras and some of her staff). Maybe Ian is the light of the show knows how to make people feel alive and open. She probably made him feel shutoff from life and so he broke it off with her. I heard towards the end of their relationship he was really nasty and bitter, and wasn’t himself. So ending it was the best thing he did! I hope he finds real love, unless of course she is the one he really wants. Some men like their women cold and bitchy.

I never understood what Ian saw in her..she’s annoying..has this totally self absorbed personality..while he’s warm, sweet, sexy and an all around great catch..he wont stay single for long..I hope he meets Miss right, marries and has a ton of kids, while Nina stays alone, bitter and miserable..if only I was 10 years younger and straight!!

You Ian stans really need a reality check and need to leave Nina alone. It’s almost one year guys. Quit your hate. I am glad Nina broke up with Ian. Ian is way too workaholic and flirty to be ever loyal to one woman for long. Many women broke up with Ian. Were they all bad? It’s not in him to make a relationhip work.

If Nina was that bad as you guys claim what that says about Ian?Nina is young, beautiful and have a life ahead. She deserves better than this old dude.

AS for bad stories about Nina, there is no legitimate account of Nina’s rude behaviour. Nina is very much loved on set and by her directors and costars. There are thousand of nice interactions of Nina with the fans. Go search for yourself.

Perhaps people who work together shouldn’t date? It’s a thought anyways.

I was at Paleyfest! This article is complete BS! They appeared perfectly comfortable and friendly with each other the entire time. Watch the interview and be the judge for yourselves. Seriously, get over it and move on, they clearly have.
