  • Nicole Scherzinger and beau Lewis Hamilton dominated headlines over the weekend after it was announced that she had finally accepted his proposal, but when she showed up at Heathrow Airport on Sunday with a bare ring finger, many wondered if the engagement news was premature.

Lewis, a successful race car driver, has reportedly proposed several times but has failed to win his lady’s hand thus far. According to the Huffington Post, Lewis told reporters that he hadn’t popped the question over the weekend. A source told The Mirror that the couple are still getting to know each other and want to take things slowly.

“There’s always speculation and they are very committed to one another but they have only been back together since Christmas. They want to spend time getting to know each other again without having to worry about wedding bells,” the source said.

Scherzinger was the talk of the web earlier this year when it was announced that she wouldn’t be coming back to “X Factor” UK for the new season in order to focus on her music. She is working on a new album, her first in three years.

The news of an engagement came after the Daily Star divulged information that a “source” had given over the weekend.

“He got down on one knee and Nicole finally accepted. The plan is they are going to live together in Switzerland and travel together when Lewis is racing. Of course, this means her career will have to take a back seat for a while but she is ready to support him on the track,”
the source said. “It is the ideal plan for the both of them and will hopefully lead to a big summer wedding in August when Lewis has a three-week break from his F1 schedule.”
