That’s right – Google unveiled this morning that its flagship Android device – the Nexus 5is now available in red from the Google Play store. As you might expect, the device is exactly the same as before except for its new color. While Google tells us to “Live colorfully,” it’s pretty obvious that this color was intended for the upcoming Valentine’s Day. After all, nothing says I love you quite like a red Android device.

For those of you who need a reminder, the Nexus 5 is quite possibly the best Android device on the market right now. It’s incredibly affordable at $349 off-contract, but it also boasts some of the best specs available. It has a 4.95-inch full HD display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 CPU, 2GB of RAM and your choice of 16 or 32 GB of onboard memory. In fact, the only “cheap” thing about it is the 8MP rear camera, but Android 4.4’s recently upgraded camera software almost makes up for it.

In all reality, the red Nexus 5 is just Google offering its flagship device in more colors. The fact that it’s being offered in February is mere coincidence. Now, this doesn’t mean that you can go cheap and just get your lady/guy friend a Snickers bar on February 14. If you have the resources and they have the need, a new Nexus 5 regardless of its color is a fantastic gift that nearly anybody can appreciate.

If the $349 asking price is still a bit too much, you can compromise once again and get your lover a Moto G. It’s not exactly cutting edge, but you’re still getting a lot for the very affordable price of $180. It’s also available in the Google Play store with stock Android.
