Mozilla Ends Speculation: No Google Browser

The Mozilla Foundation, makers of the popular Firefox browser and Thunderbird email client, have killed the rumor that they are working with Google to develop a web browser.

This now makes both parties in the story saying that no Google browser is in the works, back in late October, Google CEO Eric Schmidt, denied the browser rumors in the Financial Times.

Mozilla President Mitchell Baker, in an interview with eWEEK.com, denied rumors that the Mozilla Foundation was working with the search engine leader on a browser based on the Firefox rendering engine.

"The code base is open for companies to do what they wish to do, but we're not working with Google on a special browser," Baker said. "We are not working on a Google browser."
