  • An epic selfie revealed a memorable experience for two New York residents on November 19.

When “Sergio P.” and “Ash K.” noticed that Academy-Award winning actor Christopher Walken was unable to flag a taxi cab on Columbus Avenue, they offered their assistance.

“Yo man, that was the king of New York!” Ash said, referring to Walken’s 1990 crime drama.

The two fans offered him a ride and Walken graciously accepted. “I don’t want you guys to go out of your way,” the 70-year old actor told them. “I am going straight downtown and you can leave me anywhere.”

Then came the photo, which was soon posted on Reddit.

“He wasn’t weirded out by the situation,” Sergio said. “We were really nice and told him we were fans and would be honored to give him a lift. He was totally cool with it.”

According to Huffington Post, they drove Walken 40 blocks down the city’s West Side, approximately a half-hour ride.

“Since we were in New York he knew the area well,” said Sergio, “but couldn’t believe how much things had changed. We talked about neighborhoods in New York and acting – he gave Ash advice on acting.”

Sergio continued, “When we stopped at his destination, he didn’t immediately get out. We finished the conversation.” Then he added,”He is an incredibly nice person, the conversation was great and Mr. Walken thanked us again for the ride.”

In 2011, music star Bono picked up a ride with hockey star, Gilbert Brule, in Vancouver when it began to rain. Dave Matthews was also offered this kindness from a Pennsylvania couple earlier this year after he became stranded on the side of the road. Matthews asked the excited couple to dinner and gave them front row seats to his concert that night to show his gratitude.
