New Unfinished Swan Trailer Teases Story and “The King”
Comments are off for this post.
When The Unfinished Swan was announced, the artsy nature of the game caught some attention, but none of the gameplay or story aspects of the game had been revealed. All gamers knew is that they would be throwing gobs of paint into a completely matte-white world to uncover the geography and texture of their surroundings.
Finally, a bit about the game’s story and setting have been revealed. In anticipation of the beginning of PAX Prime, Sony has released a story trailer for The Unfinished Swan that features the reveal of “the king.”
The game looks unique, and it looks like the “king” will be the reflection of that uniqueness. It also appears that players will be taking on the role of Monroe the orphan.
Ian Dallas, the creative director at Giant Sparrow, posted the trailer to the European PlayStation blog, and let slip a few details about who this “king” is. From the blog post:
He’s the guy who created the entire world that players will be exploring in The Unfinished Swan. And I don’t want to give too much away here, but the King built a lot of cool stuff. If you like all-white statue gardens, giant labyrinths or colossal monuments to the King, then you’re in luck.
Unfortunately most people don’t like those things, at least not in their backyard. Turns out living in the middle of a giant labyrinth is pretty inconvenient. Which is why just about everyone in the kingdom eventually moved away. But the King is the sort of guy who goes right on building the stuff he wants no matter what other people think about it. Whether or not that’s a good thing depends on your point of view and – like I said – how you feel about giant labyrinths.
Dallas announced back in May that The Unfinished Swan was “almost done,” so hopefully PlayStation Network gamers will be able to get their hands on the title soon.
