New Plug-Ins Increase Functionality of Google Desktop Search

Becuase Google was smart enough to release the software development kit for their desktop search utility, increasing the functionality of GDS is not too difficult.

Recently, Google introduced four third party plug-ins, each designed to improve GDS. If you are Google Desktop Search user, you may want to check these new developments out:

IndexSWF Plug-in
Indexes flash (.SWF) files.

GDS Real Media Indexer
GDS Real media Indexer is a freeware plugin for Google Desktop Search which indexes metadata of real media video and audio files.

DICOM File Indexing Plug-in
Indexes textual dump of the dataset within DICOM files.

Elixir Technologies Desktop Search
Elixir desktop search for IBM AFP/OVE and Elixir ELX files.

MSHelp2 Plug-in
Adds MSHelp2 files support to GDS.
