Netflix has released its monthly update on Internet service provider speed data, ranking the top ISPs in terms of speed for its streaming service. Last month, we saw a huge boost for Verizon FiOS, which jumped nine spots all the way to the top of the U.S. chart.
October didn't see any changes of that magnitude, but in the U.S. Bright House jumped up to the top three with an average speed of 3.13Mbps, just behind Verizon IFOS and Cablevision.
Netflix notes that there were "significant movements in both the Luxembourg and Austria indices," and that "In Luxembourg, Numericable jumped four places to No. 1, providing Netflix viewers with an average speed of 3.98Mbps, up more than 500 Kilobits from September. Luxembourg Online took the No. 2 spot, up from fourth last month. In Austria, LIWEST topped the list, rising two spots with average speed of 4.2Mbps, up from 3.77 in September."
Netflix’s ISP Speed Index data comes from over 50 million subscribers and over a billion hours of viewing per month. You can get a look at all the regions Netflix tracks here.
From the sound of it, Netflix is gearing up for an Australian launch as it continues to expand into more of the world.
