Netflix Now Has Every Single Episode of Goosebumps and The Magic School BusBy: Josh Wolford - August 15, 2013
Netflix is capitalizing on the back-to-school craze by adding some titles that bring back memories of grade school, especially book fairs. Well, at least for me. Ah, nostalgia.
Starting today, you will be able to stream all 74 episodes of Goosebumps, the TV series based on R.L. Stine’s classic kids books. And if you tend to lean toward more educational mid-90s kids TV, you’ll also be able to stream all 52 episodes of The Magic School Bus (also based on popular book titles).
The new content comes out of a partnership between Netflix and Scholastic Media. Both Goosebumps and The Magic School Bus will be available to users in the U.S., Canada, U.K., Ireland, and Latin America.
Netflix first brought Goosebumps and The Magic School Bus to U.S. users back in June, but that was only the first season. Now, every episode ever made of those two series are available to stream.
“When we first added The Magic School Bus and Goosebumps for our members in the US and Canada earlier this summer we knew they would perform well, but after seeing just how popular they were we decided to expand our relationship with Scholastic and bring these great shows to more of our markets,” said Ted Sarandos, Chief Content Officer for Netflix. “We are very happy to be the streaming home for popular classics from Scholastic Media.”
Other programs like Harry the Dirty Dog, Danny and the Dinosaur, Chrysanthemum, The Snowy Day and The Mouse and The Motorcycle, and movies such as The Very Hungry Caterpillar and Other Stories and Stellaluna are also coming to Netflix streaming because of this deal – but they will only be available in the U.S. and Canada.
Sure, everyone is focused on Netflix’s new original series. But adding some old shows from nearly 20 years ago to the streaming lineup? Boy, they sure do know how to make the kid in me happy.
