A smattering of new features and updates makes the blog search site an easier to use and understand service for its visitors.

Technorati founder David Sifry has followed up the debut of Explore in the Technorati Kitchen with an assortment of holiday goodies for Technorati’s dedicated users.

Sifry posted in his blog about the changes they’ve made at Technorati. Top of the list are Charts, a live, updated bar graph displayed about a search topic. They’ve also improved the extracts by expanding them.

A Scoped Search option appears in tabbed format when Technorati finds tags related to the search topic. Clicking a tab displays the results for the tag it represents, as they pertain to the search subject.

In the user profiles, Technorati added some extra information including a tag cloud of the blogger’s most frequently used tags. Niall Kennedy posted how he wants the tag cloud feature to be available for embedding “but that takes just a little more time and it’s best to get the goodies out the door and iterate.”
