MIT Sponsoring Search Panel In NYC

The Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) will sponsor a search engine event in New York City, focusing on changes in search technology and includes a panel consisting some major players in the industry.

The four panelists include:

Bradley Horowitz, Director of Technology Development, Search & Marketplace Group at Yahoo

Karen how, Vice President and General Manager, Singingfish, owned by AOL and in turn owned by Time-Warner

Salim Ismail, CEO of PubSub Concepts

Marissa Mayer, Director of Consumer Web Products at Google.

Richard Reisman, President of Teleshuttle Corp will moderate the discussion.

The forum will cover the expansion of search beyond its initial beginnings as a text-based service to all the newer features like video, audio, local, personal desktop and multitude of other types of search.

All these changes may require major changes for media companies, advertisers, marketers, publishers and consumers. This conference will include visual demonstrations of some of those new types of search and how companies can best adapt to the changing marketplace.

Issues they plan to cover:

1. What are the latest search services and technologies?

2. How is consumer behavior changing?

3. How are businesses benefiting from the new search technologies?

4. What is happening as an increasing amount of content is digital and search engines are increasingly the omnipresent gatekeepers to all digital content?

The event takes place tomorrow evening at 6:00 p.m. until 7:45 p.m. and should provide some good information about the direction and future of search.
