Minecraft Pocket Edition Updated On Android, Soon iOS

Minecraft Pocket Edition for Android got an update today, adding survival mode and some other features.

Here’s the full list of what’s new, from the Android Market:

1. Major version 0.2.0 (first survival update)
2. New mode! Choose between Survival and Creative mode when creating a map
3. New blocks; most notably doors, fences and fence gates
4. Added flying to Creative mode (double tap jump)
5. Added mobs; sheep and zombies being the first
6. Day and night in Survival mode, with monsters coming at night…
7. Gather resources from nature!
8. Tools for different purposes (digging, attacking.. shearing )

While the update has only come to Android devices so far, it looks like iOS won’t be far behind, as it’s only waiting on Apple’s approval.

Minecraft designer Daniel Kaplan tweeted this morning:

Computer broke and now I bought the pocket edition I’m use to the controls and the graphics are nice nothing to complain about I’m a go with it guy. But I still wish that the 2.2 update would hurry for iPods and I’m very excited about the all new crafting feature that comes with the 2.2 update and they are just getting started

apple has supposedly said that the app update will come within the next 1-3 days maybe possibly on the seventeenth in united states time

Im hoping they’re just saving it for the holiday (feb 14 vt day) but it sounds pretty legit that it’s gonna be released to ios on the 16 or 17 knowing how gay apple is when it comes down to us fanboys waiting.

Hey it should be out on the 16 or 17 th because it usually take 6 or 7 days for apple to aprove the update.

Some commenter on the app store page said he emailed apple and got a response that said: with all of the feedback we are getting from how long it is taking us to review this, we have an estimated release of feb 13 at 12:30am…. I hope he wasn’t being a troll… (*The reply he got wasn’t those exact words but to the same effect as those so basically this is what Apple said*)
