Miley Cyrus Fires Back At Sinead O’Connor

Miley Cyrus was the recipient of a lengthy letter from Irish singer Sinead O’Connor recently, and while it seems the content was meant to be helpful, it certainly got salty, due in part to O’Connor’s claims that Cyrus is being “prostituted”. The 20-year old “Wrecking Ball” singer fired back on Thursday with a simple tweet showing O’Connor’s infamous “Saturday Night Live” performance, in which she went on a rant about the “real enemy” and tore up a picture of the Pope on live television.

Later, Cyrus had a more lengthy reply:

O’Connor wrote, in part, that she thinks Cyrus should be protecting herself from the people who would do nothing but exploit her and make money off of it. You can read the full letter here.

“I am happy to hear I am somewhat of a role model for you and I hope that because of that you will pay close attention to what I am telling you,” she wrote. “The music business doesn’t give a sh– about you, or any of us. They will prostitute you for all you are worth, and cleverly make you think its what YOU wanted.. and when you end up in rehab as a result of being prostituted, “they” will be sunning themselves on their yachts in Antigua, which they bought by selling your body and you will find yourself very alone.”

Catch Miley hosting SNL on Saturday to see if a Sinead bit is in the works.

Sinead does realize that Miley is worth $150 million dollars and her life is set and so are future generations of her family? We really need to re-evaluate the term prostitute – especially when the average American is having a hard time putting food on the table. Sinead also has a vast history of mental illness, suicide attempts and crazy tweets. This is the one I find the most disturbing:

“My s***-uation sexually/affectionately speaking is so dire that inanimate objects are starting to look good as are inappropriate and/or unavailable men and/or inappropriate and/or unavailable fruits and vegetables. I tell you yams are looking like the winners.” She went on to say: “Let me now take time to make VERY clear that yes I ‘do anal’ and in fact I would be deeply unhappy if ‘doing anal’ wasn’t on the menu, amongst everything else$$ So if u don’t like ‘the difficult brown’.. Don’t apply…”

I am not really a Miley fan, but I am also not a fan of stupidity either. All Sinead is doing is trying to push her crazy anti-men agenda. All women are victims. It gets tiring after a while.

Do we care what that has-been mick says about Miley Cyrus. Nobody cares about her . After her horrid performance on SNL 21 years ago her fame has crashed down. As of Miley Cyrus im not a fan of her music , movies and most of all her Jack Byrnes type daddy Billy Ray Cyrus can’t even control his brat from acting nutty since her breakup. But if I was him I disown her if she’s pregnant with that lowly rapper’s baby. Just do us a favor miley..RETIRE and be a nun for god’s sake.

The has beens of todays was the greats of yesterday. Someday Miley will be that has been. I don’t think Sinead was being rude or mean I think she was offering her some good advice. When she is washed up like the rest of the them maybe she will look back at it differently.

meant to say wasnt being rude or mean.

      • Hmm

Sinead… had what… one hit song? All she is doing is pushing her agenda. She does have an agenda you know —- have you read about the insane things she has said and done in the past 10 years.

It is also crazy to think that Miley is being taken advantage of. Sweat shop workers are being taken advantage of. Twenty year olds, who are worth 1/5 of a BILLION dollars, are not taken advantage of.

It is the most shallow and hypocritical thing to think otherwise. Go talk to the kid in Malaysia working for a quarter a day and ask him or her about how Miley is being taken advantage of.

I have no idea what to say to this behaviour of Miss Cyrus’. If the VMA Performance and the way she tends to take her clothes off these days is shameful, this is outright stupidity of someone who has forgotten herself. Mocking people with mental illnesses is not an okay thing, and maybe she’s a celebrity and because of that, people criticise her with an even larger magnifying glass… I am very disappointed in someone who used to be a good model for teenagers and aspiring young girls.
I am a teenager myself, and while I barely watched Hannah Montana, I do know that a lot of girls watched it and fell in love with the idea of being a superstar.
But by now, with the VMA, the wayward acting, explicit videos and stupid comments, it’s no wonder that parents would someday forbid their daughters to become superstars, because of her example.
In the case of mental illnesses, it has been shown that some people that live normally still have a very mild form of a mental disorder.
THIS IS A LETTER FOR YOU, SUBJECT OF DISCUSSION: Nobody is perfect, Miley Cyrus. Nobody. You are getting almost naked in public, therefore you have no reason to blame others for your indiscretion. Like you said about the VMA performance ‘Britney’s done it, Madonna’s done it…’ Do you have to do it? Are you suddenly so shallow that you would give anything to ‘make history’? That isn’t making history, that is selling your body. Knowingly or unknowingly, you’ve done it, for sure. For your sake, I hope this gets to you. Somehow, which might be really hard to do, because I’m not on Twitter, or Facebook…
I find it appalling that I am more mature that someone 5 years older than me.
Foolish girl, the mental illness mockery was not a jab at just one person. It wasn’t a jab just at the people in mental hospitals.
…Do you know how many people living ‘normally’ suffer from anxiety? Do you even know what a mental illness is?
I tell you, Miley Cyrus, you are telling people that they are sick, YOU are the one that’s sick for failing people who thought you better than this, even most of your fans.
As for Sinead, she’s gone through so many things and has learnt so many lessons. What an older, more experienced person sees while sitting down, a child could not see it even if he/she climbed Mount Everest. That is more or less a proverb I know. I’m not saying that Sinead is innocent – in fact, she’s quite far from it – but why not take people’s word for it and stop this shameful behaviour? There is a difference between being carefree and careless. Learn it.
For some reason, though I am a 15 year old girl, I do wish I grew up in another generation where women’s bodies weren’t prostituted on pictures and sex tapes, and sex isn’t talked about so lightly.
As such, and the standard wasn’t as low as it is today.
As I said before, I hope this letter does get to you, Miss Cyrus. I really do.
Be careful. For your sake, one day, I hope you would be able to explain yourself to your future children someday.
