Mila Kunis and Channing Tatum’s Film ‘Jupiter Ascending’ Delays Release Date
In the film, Kunis plays a house keeper who becomes the target of an assassination by the Queen of the Universe. According to Entertainment Weekly, Tatum plays a “half-wolf, half-albino warrior.” Kunis’ character becomes the Queen’s target because her genetic make-up could destroy the Queen’s reign. Of course the movie will feature heavily actioned-packed scenes, and have a side of romance.

Recently, Warner Bros. Pictures held some pre-release screenings for the film; the early reviews weren’t promising. Delaying Jupiter Ascending gives the studio a chance to decide how to improve it. If they decide to reshoot scenes, they’ll have difficulty doing it with Kunis’ pregnancy. They’ll likely just try to rebrand the film and reedit certain scenes.

Jupiter Ascending’s new February release date comes at one of the quieter times for the film industry. Warner Bros. and the Wachowskis may be hoping that the lack of box office competition will prove profitable for the film. Because Jupiter comes out so close to Valentine’s Day, it may get marketed as a romance movie and less of an action one. Tatum has two other major film projects being released this year: 22 Jump Street and Foxcatcher. 22 Jump Street will definitely earn him a major box office payoff; while the Oscar buzzed Foxcatcher should earn him more credit as an actor. Kunis has no other live-action films being released in 2014. Her next film, after Jupiter Ascending, is Ted 2. However, planning for the arrival of her future child should keep her plenty busy with Ashton Kutcher.
