Microsoft Plucks CFO From International Paper

Starting May 9, Microsoft will have a new chief financial officer, and man in that position is Chris Liddell from International Paper.

Liddell has spent the last ten years in leadership positions with International Paper and its New Zealand affiliate, Carter Holt Harvey.

“I’m not a software engineer and I don’t believe I need to be in order to be a good CFO at Microsoft,” says Liddell.

International Paper CEO John V. Faraci has nothing but good things to say about Liddell.

“Chris has played a pivotal role as the chief executive officer of Carter Holt Harvey, and more recently, as the chief financial officer of International Paper. We will very much miss having Chris on our leadership team, but this is a great opportunity for him. We thank Chris for all of the outstanding contributions he has made to our company and congratulate him on his new role,” he said.

Liddell seems to have built himself a pretty good reputation as he is known for not sugar-coating the facts or delivering a bunch of hype.
