In the latest news of strange bedfellows, a New Zealand news source reports that Microsoft’s Halo movie, based on the highly popular Xbox game, will be produced on servers running the Linux operating systems. Dogs and cats living together, pandemonium!

Produced by famed Lord of The Rings director, Peter Jackson, the Halo movie will be using the assistance of Weta Digital for special effects.

“Weta Digital uses more than 1000 dual-processor IBM blade servers running the Fedora version of the Red Hat distribution of the Linux to produce special effects for movies that have so far included Lord of the Rings and King Kong,” reports Reuben Schwarz.

What’s next? Eric Schmidt and Steve Ballmer holding hands in the rain? Wait, scratch that. Nobody wants that happen.
