Vendors usually debut their new hardware at the Electronics Entertainment Expo. But Bill Gates wants his MTV instead.

Sony, Nintendo, and Microsoft will all release details about their upcoming next-generation gaming consoles at E3. But many Xbox 360 details will be public knowledge by the time the show starts next week.

A half-hour special, MTV Presents: The Next Generation Xbox Revealed, airs Thursday on the music and entertainment network.

Mr. Gates let slip earlier in the month that the console would ship this year. That would likely mean a November release to take advantage of holiday sales.

Other previous disclosures about the Xbox 360 include its ability to be a media manager similar to a Media Center PC. Of course, the console will support online gaming, that through the Xbox Live service.

More rumors include support for WiFi, which would support the also-rumored wireless controller to ship with the Xbox 360.
