  • Michelle Pfeiffer and Robert De Niro look unrecognizable as Bernie and Ruth Madoff in photos released for the upcoming HBO film The Wizard of Lies.

The stills show the Hollywood A-listers looking far older than how fans know them.

According to Us Weekly, Pfeiffer and De Niro portray a disgraced financier and his wife in the HBO flick.

In one of the photos, De Niro, as Bernie, is seated in a plush armchair, wearing a black pullover, gray slacks, his wedding ring, and an ankle monitor, while Pfeiffer, portraying Ruth, stands behind her man in a white shirt, light blue cardigan, black-rimmed glasses and platinum blonde hair.

The film chronicles the massive Ponzi scheme that landed Bernie a 150-year sentence in federal prison for charges of fraud after he infamously scammed investors out of $65 billion, including actors John Malkovich and Kevin Bacon, and director Steven Spielberg.

Barry Levinson of Rain Man fame directs the film and also serves as executive producer alongside De Niro, Jane Rosenthal, and Berry Welsh, according to Entertainment Weekly.

Based on the book The Wizard of Lies by Diana Henriques, the much-anticipated movie takes some of its material from Laurie Sandell’s Truth And Consequences.

Wizard of Lies also stars Hank Azaria as Madoff’s key lieutenant Frank Dipascali and Alessandro Nivola as Mark Madoff.

Michelle Pfeiffer and Robert De Niro previously appeared together in the feature film, The Family.
