Michael Jordan is probably not used to being turned away from anything, so it must have come as a shock when the basketball icon was kicked out of a posh country club recently for violating the dress code.

The club, which of course has its own golf course, says that Jordan refused to go along with the rules for appropriate attire on the green, which consists of a collared shirt and Bermuda shorts. Instead, he wore cargo shorts and whatever shirt he wanted, probably because he’s Michael Jordan–and a grown man–and should be able to dress however he wants. The Florida club has now banned him from its gates, much to Jordan’s consternation.

    • travis

Well we’ll find outsoon if 4 members are murdered in cold blood and Jordan comes out blaming youtube.

  • http://www.kansas-city-website-design.com/ web designer

How about pulling him aside and giving the opportunity to change or buy some short in the club store? Great way to broaden the fan base not.

    • travis

Did you even read the article? It wasn’t a single incident, he repeatedly violated the rule and refused to wear the require attire

      • steve

I guess you never read it all either travis . It was also said that he had played there MANY times and the dress code was NEVER befor brought to his attention . If it were me then i would have refused to also . I would have either kept playing my round or left. What difference does it make what you play golf in . If i were allowed to play golf nude then i would . And for those of you that think MJ is self centered andso upity upity , Your wrong . He is a carring person who donates a lot of his time to charities such as st. jude and other worthwhile orgs . Try looking at the man for once and not the money and rings .

Anthony: he thinks he is ANTHONY! The biggest blow hear of ALL time!!!!

  • http://yahoo.com Ernie Mojarro

This is why I personally dont even spen 1 dollar in the white collar sport !! I cant Imagine spending $300. – $400. on a day under the sun

  • earl metzel

rules r rules !! do the same with the president rules or get out period

    • travis

Actually if all wear the same uniform it makes all appear to be from the same class. I’m pretty sure Jordan’s cargo pants cost more than what most other golfers wear.

Furthermore this wasn’t a single incident. I’m almosy positive most of you calling out the club are liberals, and since you all hate the rich man so much I figured you’d be all over Jordan for thinking himself above others?

  • bob

rules are rules. what’s the big deal.

    • http://www.webpronews.com/michael-jordan-banned-from-golf-course-2012-11 Amber

Boy Bye ,please shut up , rules my ass , he’s black thats why he was turned away , i bet if it were brad pitt , id make no diffrence…

      • travis

I hope to God you’re joking Amber! Perhaps you think the fact that he’s black (who cares already) means he should be exempt from the rules?

      • matt johnson

This shows how poorly you can read. He played golf there as in he had already done it and was approached and told to dress proper which he refused to do so now hes not allowed back. They did not walk up to him and say leave now.

    • ToeKnee

The big deal is not that there are rules, the big deal is that it is THAT rule! Wow, talk about going back to the stone ages. Uniforms of this type seem to be around just to seperate the classes. Not be an individual. That said…I completely agree that rules are NOT mean’t to be broken and Michael should have either politely left the course, or gone and changed. I’m sure he can afford it.

  • Wylie

Afro Americans have been playing the race card for two long,,if you want to be treated equal , then follow the rules set down for ALL.

    • http://WebProNews Monty

      Wylie see above comment.

    • http://yahoo.com bubba brown

You go Wylie u r the man

    • Teresa

WYLIE, AFRO? Americans..where the hell have you been? I suppose you are not racist either you probably have a “best friend” that is black.

      • http://yahoo.com Reg

Wylie thought he/she was being politically correct…LOL

    • http://yahoo.com Reg

Wylie, most Afro Americans do not play the race card. They have been mistreated for far two (as you so “eloquently” put it) long. Afro Americans do want to be treated equally, however, they are still waiting for the time when that will be a reality and not just a bunch off words!

  • Bubba

Who cares. The rules are for everyone. Amber, you are an idiot.

  • Lawson

It’s ok MJ just go and buy the golf course and ban them lol.

  • Jim Matlock

He could probably buy the club and fire some people.

  • http://WebProNews Monty

For you racists out there, this is NOT about MJ playing the “race card” How about the “idiot card”? Last time I checked, that card comes in ALL colors and races. Stop making everything a black person does about their race. MJ is just another rich, former athlete who thinks the world revolves around him.

    • Tony

It seems we live in a said state of events when you can’t wear cargo short to golf? This world just get worst and worst. You would think they would want MJ to golf there, go figure idiots.

    • David Martin

you are so right This is not a racist issue every color has violated a rule here and their I dissagree with the club but their are rules out there and I don’t care what color you are you have to abide by them

  • http://webpronews cate lynn

Michael is smart enough to play and win championships in Basketball, but can’t follow club rules. He should have known Khaki’s are not allowed in the country club. How embarrassing is that, to be kicked out of a Country Club for not wearing proper attire.

  • http://yahoo.com ACE

The rules and staff will be changing at the golf coarse after Michael Jordan buys it!

  • roger

He is n asss big ego. Follow the rules old man.

  • http://yahoo.com bubba brown

Wylie — you are 110% correct the blacks and other illegal people here in the USA having been playing the race card long enough. Either go home are accept the rules and regulations of each community, town, city, state and all the country they live.

    • http://WebProNews Monty

bubba – where do law breaking, ego maniac white people go who don’t follow the rules? thought I would ask you since you know so much! lol

    • Mack 87

Wow- The Blacks & illegal immigrants @Bubba Brown.
We all know where your Opinion is coming from.
      Absolutely Laughable!

However, Ofcourse MJ has to follow the Rules of the Course, before everyone shows up in a Tank Top & Jean Shorts.

  • karen

    Good for them!!!!

  • http://yahoo Alicia

Bubba and the rest of you talking about the race card – STFU!! Everything in regards to black people is NOT about race. YOU all make it about race. How does his “blackness” have anything to do with a dress code. I guess only black men weat cargo shorts HUH. That is ignorance in FULL BLOOM. How did that even become a source of this article. The issue is that MJ broke a dress code – PERIOD.

I say MJ go buy / build your own golf course and wear what you want because you are

    • http://yahoo.com Reg

      Thank you Alicia!

  • Donald

Iam glad the banned the fucker I cant stand him anyone thinking he like some kind of god or something totally special

  • angryblackman

good.. stop hanging around racist peckerwoodz from now on jordan.. stick to the people that love you

    • dev

sure, angry…then he will need to get a new wife!!!!

    • MentalElevation

Agreed. It is best not to associate or support racist. Golf Clubs are notorious for being racist. It wasn’t too long ago that a whole bunch of Golf people were up in arms when Tiger Woods wanted to compete.

Nonetheless there are non-racist golf courses (try any in California). Florida is very backward.

  • dev

Well..courtesy dictates he follows the same rules as everyone else. If he feels he is such a king, then he needs to learn ‘true kings show respect for others’.

Besides…anyone wonder why Charlotte is such a crummy team? Cause Jordan doesn’t work like a true successful exec. Sam vincent echoed this, before the NBA gangsta mafia silenced him.

  • http://WebProNews.com MP

Well not all golf courses do not have dress codes everyone wears casual clothes playing golf when they have rules and violations of dress code (for example at boarding schools they have dress code for wearing school uniforms and they do not banned people or students for violating dress codes) like this article of this golf course they have rules and not following the golf course rules and breaking the rules some places like country club and golf courses do not have dress codes they are allowed to play golf

  • MentalElevation

Being that he was kicked out of a golf club in Florida, it is because he was black. Dress code is just an excuse they used so they don’t get sued. I’d like to see this happen in California…It wouldn’t…But backwards Florida…it is almost expected.

  • don

In related news, Michael Jordan buys golf club and fires everyone that works in it…

  • Tina

Does it matter if he was a black man when the club keeps the middleclass peoples out!If it was a homeless man that came there in their uniform dressed like the club he would have gotten a standing ovation!!!!And to make the record straight “black” people works alot of decent jobs,do get a education and still is mistreated for being of color and anything to make money off a story!!! News Media!!! and the U.S. citizens still pays taxes!!! Is it a crime to wear cargo shorts! I should think not !!! Mike build your own Golf course and keep al other ignorant peoples OUT!!!!!! lol

    • Liv

I sincerely hope you not “black” because you sound ignorant, confused, and contradicting.

  • nicholas steven pearson

he’s black they didn’t want him there to begin with so they came with anything to get him out of there let’s be honest here

  • Rick

All you supporters remember because he is of color he should not have to follow rules-What?Trust me he was thrown out for not following rules and not because he was black -Please quit showing you racist ignorance-It makes our race look stupid and ghetto-No wonder we struggle for respect from the other races when we look and act like we just stepped of the boat from the jungle. Wise up and don’t play the woe is me I’m black game

    • Liv

You are right in that instance in that we do make ourselves seem “ghetto”, but I do agree to a certain degree with you and also other replies that say it was because he was black. My question is why not just escort him off the grounds instead of banning him? What they did was took it to the extreme for no reason when they could have just cited him.

      • Rick

Hi Liv -He was banned because he did it several times after repeated warnings -No one is better than anyone else because they have money-are white or black-or because the give to charities etc. -The rules are the rules I personally do not like stop signs -but after a few tickets I got the message

        • Liv

Well if that was the case Rick why not mention he was asked several times? Or are you just insinuating that there had to be a better reason when it may just be staring in your face? If I am getting on your nerves please let me know.

          • Realistic

No, you are getting on my nerves. It had nothing to do with race.. please get over it.

  • Charlie

M j is a no tipping idiot – he wanted all the money as a player and now as an owner wants all the players at minimum wage .after making hundreds of millions more than any athelete he wears a shirt that asks ” Where are my 40 acres and mule ?” blacks like Jordan want affirmative action ,not equal rights .U c Berkeley wants to lower it’s engineering school standards so more blacks can get in ; med school etc . Bill gates millennium scholarship excludes whites Asians and east Indians .the scholarship is run by NAACP / united Negro college fund – black Mexican Alaskan p I am ind eligible – does this sound like equality ? Obama snuck in 4.5 billion into obamacare bill for “Historically black colleges and universities ” – he and Michelle spoke at commencements at colleges whose presidents are board members of “HBCAU” – be stupid compared to othe races and still , if you yell racism you will get what you want

    • Liv

Well I am from Mississipp and I experience a lot of racism, but I just call it the stupidity of other colors. To think that they are above and beyond others. Usually those who do call racism have probable cause, but still like you have mentioned there are others who don’t and still believe the white man is bringing them down (usually black males and single parent females). I live in an extremely bad part of Jackson but at least I am around other people with my same skin tone although they are “ignant” lol. White people scare me and are not trustworthy or at least thst is what I have experienced hopefully that changes.

      • Rick

HI Liv i’m originally from Corinth(NE corner -Mississippi)
Yes I have seen racism from both sides-I for one will not let my self get to that level. I am so sad at how we have lost our family values-We all go to church and then condone trash in our yards and streets-drugs on our streets-baby mommas at 15-music that promotes ghetto acts-I am no prude but I have pride and if you find all whites to be untrustworthy then you are running with the wrong crowd

        • Liv

Well hello fellow Mississippian!!!! Fortunately I do not hang with any crowds. I go to Tougaloo College I am a freshman, and I had my son when I was 19 with my high school sweetheart and this has made me get a sense of understanding no matter who you are. I have tried my best and I will still to get along with those who may not get along with me because I would not want my son to develop hate in his heart when it is just their stupidity for acting a certain and this goes for everyone. A

          • Liv

            Are you caucasian?

  • Wayne

Come on now. There is one set of rules on the golf course and anyone that wants to play has to follow them. I showed up for a company golf event at a private club in California once in a tee-shirt. I was advised that the dress code required a collared shirt, so I bought one in the pro shop. There cannot be two sets of rules, one for whites and one for people of color…THAT would be racist. They had rules like that before and the Civil Rights Act changed all that. This has nothing to do with skin color, rules are rules.

    • Liv

OK I understand rules are rules and like I have replied and said to many other replies I agree with both arguments to a certain degree. But I have some questions for you. Were you told to leave? If so how many times? Was this your absolute first time attending this golf course or had you been to it previously? Did you buy the shirt the same day? Did they follow you around and keep check on you or were you escorted off of the premises?

      • Rick

In can tell you rules are -no collar on shirt -no play I had to buy one at Southwinds at Memphis-First time there -Yes Told me that was the rules -no exception

        • Liv

          So they escorted you out?

          • Rick

Nope bought a overpriced shirt and played no problem-It’s that way at every golf course-Bet you some of my mama’s collard greens that if you call any public access golf course in Jackson and ask them if you can play if you are black and what the dress code is-you will be surprised how little racism is left in this day and time. Be different and don’t keep harboring the ideas that has held us down

          • Liv

Oh trust me I am not I use to want to be a psychologist but trying to figure people out usually makes them mad I am glad you have conversed with me you are my first positive case.

  • Raul Villa

MJ feels entitled. Although he was a great Basketball player, he is a self absorbed #*&hole. Google and watch his Hall of Fame speech. Total jerk!

  • don doran

This has nothing to do with race of people playing on the golf course… The rules are the rules…. The same as BASKETBALL!!! He’s no longer famous, just a guy playing golf just any human race….

  • Ron Cromer

Good for MJ. Who wants to play golf with a bunch of arrogant elitists anyway?

  • Don Canard

Was the club’s name Bushwood ? Would you loofah my stretch marks ?

  • Sheena

Here in podunkville Kentucky, even I know you are supposed to wear a collar on your shirt at golf courses. Yep, racists will find ways to be racist, but sometimes it’s a matter that rules are rules.

I can’t imagine how tough it is to be black, and have people who are looking to be unfair to you. Sometimes if you look hard enough, you can see what’s not there, though.
