Megyn Kelly Tells Candidate She Lost Senate Primary On National Television

By: Zach Walton - June 4, 2014

Megyn Kelly was prepared to interview Annette Bosworth about her campaign on the night of the GOP primary in South Dakota. Instead, the news anchor had to break some bad news to Bosworth on national television.

Media Bistro reports that Kelly had Bosworth on her Fox News show – the Kelly File – to discuss the candidate’s GOP primary campaign. The primary race was mired in sexual slurs and hate speech all directed at Bosworth and it was definitely something worth talking about. Kelly got word that Bosworth had lost her primary race against former South Dakota governor Mike Rounds right before the segment and opened with a question about how she felt.

At this moment, you would expect Bosworth to have a canned speech planned in which she gracefully admits defeat while saying she looks forward to Rounds’ campaign in the general election. Instead, the news was so fresh that she didn’t even know she had lost the race. She learned that she had lost on national television in front of millions of viewers. In what was surely a surprise for the GOP candidate, she could only say what probably any of us would say in such an incredibly awkward situation:

“That’s news to me. I didn’t know that. I found out on national television.”

You can check out the clip below:

It would have been a pretty good week if Bosworth just had to deal with a little bit of awkwardness of national television. Instead, the now former GOP candidate turned herself into officials today after a warrant was issued for her arrest. According to the Argus Leader, she faces perjury charges in relation to election law. In total, she’s been charged with six counts of perjury and six counts of filing a false or forged document.

Bosworth isn’t the only primary candidate under suspicion as independent Clayton Walker was barred from running in the primary due to perjury allegations. He has not yet been arrested.

The usual crap from Fox they can’t wait to try to be the first even if it means that it puts someone in a uncomfortable situation, and I don’t mean just asking tough questions, that is expected from any news outlet but this put the candidate in a position for looking bad just for the sake of being first.

    • American

Just like the usual crap from all of the other “news” networks.

    • teadoff

Hardly unique for MSNBC – they have a lot of pie on their faces!

  • Jami2

I viewed this live…..felt sorry for Ms Bosworth. If the news was this ‘fresh’, Megyn had an obligation to confirm with this candidate prior to discussion on national television. I hope she personally called her and apologized afterwords…..that would have been the least she could have done.

    • vanpastorman

I’d almost bet she did apologize. Who wouldn’t feel bad for someone in this situation?

      • bob dayton

        Megyn Kelly

  • deltamary

I was watching. Megan Kelly needs to take a deep breath and reinvent herself.
She talks TOO FAST- Reminds me of a new employee sprouting her knowledge. That employee was eventually “clipped at the knees” -so Megan had better be careful and learn this lesson–“There is always someone that can do YOUR job, better than you”. She seems to be smart-but needs to tone it down. I like Harris Faulkner’s demeanor.

    • chetohimler

@delta…The news segments are timed. They need to get all the information and questions in fast and request that the person they are interviewing do the same. I have seen news coverage where people are often cut off before they finish the response. Megan is not alone when talking fast.

  • Splat

Whats puzzling is that she is still a repug! Wow some white women are just plain ignorant.

    • truth

Insert “black” where you wrote “white” and you are now a racist.

      • Splat

U don’t know what a Venn Diagram is do you truth! and by the way I’m black so it would be reverse racism if it were a (black woman) racist statement. Hello!

    • vanpastorman

Splat, you need to get right with Jesus. There is NO ROOM in God’s Kingdom for racism. Repent! Revelation 5:9 And they sang a new song: “You are worthy to take the scroll and to open its seals, because you were slain, and with your blood you purchased men for God from every tribe and language and people and nation.

      • Splat

        Where’s the racism?

      • Splat

There is no historical record of someone from Nazareth name Jesus! Wake up man religion is just a form of control!
Research the “Council Of Nicaea” and quit using the gospel as a shield!

    • bluesnvegas

      Because…..?

    • teadoff

I’m sure Whites could say the same about Blacks

      • bluesnvegas

You realize everybody was fighting to avoid that response?

      • Splat

If it were similar circumstances! Yes!

    • bluesnvegas

So you would prefer that she’s anti-God, anti-1st, 2nd, and 4th Amendment and pro abortion?

      • Splat

This country was founded on the philosophy of separation of church and state, man! To each his own, you can believe what you want but don’t try and force your beliefs on me! Why are some people against abortion but for the death penatly? Appears there is some sort of conflict!

  • OBomb

    What a c

  • DungenessSam

This Megyn nard takes the “dumb blonde shtik” to a whole new level…Lawyer….mmmmm.

    • truth

      you are a moron

    • chetohimler

@Dung…”dumb?” She did’nt get to the top as fast as she did for being “dumb”, I can assure you of that!

      • DungenessSam

REALLY, that body the smile the hair…….tell me about it…..please.

        • chetohimler

@Dung….Very helpful attributes, and all in the right places I might add.

        • Leon Swartzentruber

          You are an idiot

    • bob dayton

I agree. She is an idiot.

      • chetohimler

        @bob…estas pendejo…your a pendejo.

  • enigmaco

So the goal of fox news is to be as cruel and ignorant as possible correct?

    • American

Man, if what you say is true, it sucks that Fox News has started mimicking all of the other news networks. They are all the same. Except for MSNBC, they just plain suck.

      • enigmaco

I don’t like any of the news networks here. It’s sad that to get honest news you need to read international sources.

        • bluesnvegas

          You’re kidding yourself!

          • enigmaco

            Please expand on that

          • bluesnvegas

Meaning most media giants are owned by the same corporations worldwide and these primetime celebrities are under contract to say or stick to the script. They often appear genuine and focused but I think it’s often just doing their job. She makes 5 mil a yr.. She’s not going to go rogue and have an agenda and lose that dough! The internet has more choices for more accurate news coverage but it’s hard to believe anybody anymore!

          • enigmaco

Yeah I know just like the old saying goes DTA (Don’t Trust Anybody)

        • chetohimler

          Try Telemundo….

        • teadoff

I’ll ditto that. I often read British and Australian news. If you would like an opinion from a man from New Zealand, check out Trevor Loudon. He has studied a lot and has brought much information to light that wouldn’t get published in America.

    • vanpastorman

You forgive Obama when he makes mistakes right? Is it possible Megan made one?

      • enigmaco

No I don’t think she made a mistake, so you think I am a supporter of our president because of it? I don’t support our government in general.

        • teadoff

What government do you think you like?

          • enigmaco

            one that doesn’t exist

      • bluesnvegas

Megyn isn’t the producer, she’s a sharp and accomplished attorney and journalist and TV personality and that candidate’s PA should have let the candidate know whats up before Megyn told her.

        • chetohimler

..Yep, Annette Bosworths’ campaign manager should have given her the news as soon as the final tally of the election came in.

        • bob dayton

What the fuck is wrong with you Blue? Let me guess, you are an elderly white person that thinks that the only person qualified to be president is an elderly white person.

          • bluesnvegas

So belittleing me and asking me a question in a very imature and rude manner without any speaking points is supposed to get an appropriate response?

          • bob dayton

I don’t give a shit if I get an appropriate response from you or not. Since you are a Faux News watcher, your opinion means nothing to me. You are already too fucked up for me to worry about. Sharp and accomplished attorney? What are you, a relative?

          • bluesnvegas

You’re more uneducated than I realized that you can’t or aren’t capable of answering my question. It must suck to be that stupid. Cheers!

          • bob dayton

More uneducated than you”relized” ha, what an idiot. Learn how to spell before you try to insult someone.

          • bluesnvegas

I ignored my spell check to see if you would take the bait …and you did. Quit eating the sand in the sand box!

          • bob dayton

What the fuck is that supposed to mean? Admit it, you are a moron.

          • bluesnvegas

I rest my case. Say goodnight Bob.

      • chetohimler

…No, what Megyn was doing was stating the facts and putting the news out there. Sounds to me like the one that made the mistake was Annette Bosworths’ campaign manager, he/she should have given her the news as soon as the final tally of the election came in. The Campaign Manager is the one that dropped the ball.

      • bob dayton

It wasn’t a mistake. It was a scoop. Fox doesn’t get many of those because Fox is not really a news channel. It is more of an opinion channel. If your opinion is different than theirs then you are an idiot that just listens to the “lame media”. Hannity is the worse of the lot, well, maybe O’Reilly. They are both horrible human beings that have sold their soul to Ailles for the all mighty dollar.

  • jimbo124816

Isn’t it strange how immediately after she lost the primary, her opponents filed charges against her for probably unknowingly breaking some obscure law. They couldn’t even wait a day. This occurred after she was mercilessly attacked during the campaign for being a woman.

Obama and his minions have been breaking campaign laws for over 6 years, and nobody seems ready to file charges against him. Now he’s releasing murders, rapists, robbers, illegal aliens, and Muslim terrorist leaders from prison, and his supporters can’t see anything wrong with that.

    • teadoff

You can’t effectively file charges against a president whose AG is his schill and will redact anything necessary before anyone gets a chance to look for the information. Holder is as much an abomination as Obama. They are smart – have everything well figured out but don’t know a thing about foreign relations nor do they care about our laws.

    • bob dayton

You are so full of shit. Quit watching Fox news before you go completely insane. Wait, it is too late.

  • jimbo124816

I would have assumed as Megyn probably did, that Ms. Bosworth would have been told first by the election officials and her campaign workers, before putting out a press release. Probably just another last political attack against her.

Obama is never told anything about what is going on in his inner circle. He says he learned about IRS, VA, Benghazi, NSA, and all the other scandals by watching CNN.
“I get the news about these things from the media, just like you.”
    .

  • st725

i dont know if i would have told her.

  • TexanForever29

If Bosworth’s campaign manager didn’t tell her about the results, he/she is incompetent beyond belief. If a candidate is going on national television, it would behoove him or her to be up to date on the status of the race. Megyn Kelly did nothing wrong.

    • krdave

      Yes, she did.

  • krdave

That was a poor performance out of Megyn. She blew it off last night like she had done nothing wrong. She also talks too fast, is too pushy, and too forceful. I used to like her, but several different things she has done have turned me.

    • bluesnvegas

You think she got prime time by being a generic milktoast! She’s a Tiger!

    • bob dayton

Yeah, she blew it like she blows Roger Ailes .

  • Albert

Megan is just another of the carnival barkers that pretends to be a journalist on Fake News. Fox is a stain on our country. They are making treason main stream.

    • Pat

Another ignorant liberal spewing the party line: Faux News Lies !!!

    • bluesnvegas

Then you must be a Stalinist!

  • jaun sanchez

We dont need women in politics, they belong at home
