Mega Millions Jackpot Soars To $400 Million
Are you feeling lucky? If so, make sure you stop by your local convenient store and pick up a Mega Millions ticket. By doing so, you will be giving yourself a chance to win a whopping $400 million! That’s right … the jackpot is still growing after no one matched all six numbers, 7-20-40-54-69, with a Mega Ball of 12, on Friday, March 14.
The jackpot has been rolling over since January 3, making the current jackpot the third largest in the multi-state lottery game’s history. It is the sixth largest jackpot in United States history. The largest lottery prize in history was the Mega Millions $656 million jackpot that was won in 2012. That prize was spilt amongst winners in Illinois, Maryland, and Kansas.
The next drawing will be held tonight. The Mega Millions is currently sold in 43 states plus the District of Columbia and the U. S. Virgin Islands. The tickets cost $1 each, and the odds of winning are 1 in 259 million.
According to Megamillions.com, “players may pick six numbers from two separate pools of numbers – five different numbers from 1 to 75 and one number from 1 to 15 – or select Easy Pick. You win the jackpot by matching all six winning numbers in a drawing. The jackpots start at $15 million and grow by a minimum of $5 million per draw each time the jackpot rolls.”
