  • After backing up Aaron Rodgers for the Packers, Matt Flynn is ready to prove himself as Seattle’s next quarterback.

Since helping to solidify a win for Green Bay over Detroit last season with 480 yards and six touchdowns, Flynn drew the attention of a few teams who were looking for a capable free agent. Miami came calling as well as Seattle, and after visiting the Dolphins, he decided on the Pacific Northwest.

“I really enjoyed everyone (in Seattle), and I got a chance to sit with (offensive coordinator) Darrell Bevell and felt really good about the offense, like it was something I knew very well,” Flynn told SI.com. “I just felt like it’d be a great fit.”

Comparisons have been made between Flynn and Matt Hasselbeck, who backed up Brett Favre for Green Bay before signing a deal with Seattle in 2001, and the Seahawks are certainly hoping those comparisons turn out to be more than just superficial as they move toward their next season.

Peter King, senior NFL writer for Sports Illustrated, broke the news on his Twitter page before giving his opinion on Flynn’s future:

Talked to Flynn. Said a big factor in Sea over Mia was vibe in the building in Seattle: “The coaches, the staff–they were fantastic.”(image) 18 hours ago via TweetDeck ·  Reply ·  Retweet ·  Favorite · powered by @socialditto

Flynn’s Seattle deal pays him betw $13.25m and $16m in first two years, with $10m guaranteed. Likely then it’ll get redone or he’ll be gone.(image) 12 hours ago via TweetDeck ·  Reply ·  Retweet ·  Favorite · powered by @socialditto
