According to the Tampa Police Department, the 6-foot-11 forward took a breathalyzer test twice, blowing a .103 and .106, the San Jose Mercury News reports. The legal limit in Florida is .08.
Speights was initially pulled over for failing to yield the right of way while exiting a driveway. After a police officer took the 29-year-old aside and asked him to do some roadside sobriety tests, he was arrested.
According to the incident log, Speights was cooperative with police officers. After spending the morning in jail, he was released on $500 bond.
Speights, who celebrated his birthday the day before the arrest, played college basketball in Florida and won a national championship while attending the University of Florida.
The 27-year-old player is currently on the second year of a $11 million, three-year contract with the Warriors. During the 2013-14 season, he averaged 6.4 points and 3.7 rebounds.
"We are aware of Marreese Speights' arrest this morning on DUI charges in Florida and are in the process of obtaining additional information," a statement issued by the Warriors read. "As an ongoing legal matter, we will have no further comment at this time."
