Maria Sharapova Beats Bouchard, Ready For Halep
Maria Sherapova may make winning look easy, but she has worked hard to make it to this Saturday’s final.
She managed to beat out 18th-seeded Eugenie Bouchard of Canada after a rough game that could have gone either way.
“She played an unbelievable match. Her level was extremely high today and I am just fortunate to be the winner,” Sharapova said.
“I would prefer to win in two sets, but she started so well. It was tough losing the first set, but that’s not when the match is over. I fought and I scrambled and I found a way to win.”

Bouchard started off strong, but could not keep her momentum throughout the match. She hopes to improve and is using her loss as a learning experience.
“It was a difficult match for me today and I was really close to winning it, but it was not enough,” she said.
“I didn’t play at the right level at the important moments. It was so close and I feel I am very close to winning a major tournament and being the player I want to be.”
Sherapova will next face the No. 4 seeded Simona Halep who recently defeated No. 28 Andrea Petkovic of Germany. Halep knows how important it is to beat Shrapova and is ready for an intense match..
”I have a lot of confidence in myself now,” said Halep after beating Petkovic. ”I played really well here; a few good matches. But next round will be very tough. I know Maria. She’s a great champion.”
If Sharapova plans to beat Halep, she will have to bring her A-game.
