  • The Hollywood Reporter reports that Margaret Cho has just landed a major role in the new Tina Fey series. The untitled show, being called Cabot College, follows the students and staff at a women’s college that has just opened its doors to men for the first time.

Cho will play the president of Cabot College, Laura Thibault. Thibault attempts a welcoming attitude towards the newly admitted boys, but she gets annoyed with their antics. This is the second time Cho and Fey have worked together on a television project. Cho guest starred in 30 Rock as Kim Jong II. This performance earned her an Emmy nomination.

Cho’s current major television appearance is on Lifetime’s hit-series Drop Dead Diva. She reprises this role for its sixth season later this year.

Matt Hubbard (who was also an executive producer on 30 Rock) is the creator and executive producer of Cabot College. Fey and Robert Carlock also are co-executive producers, and the series will be directed by Pam Fryman.

The other cast members include Guiding Light alum Bonnie Dennison who plays a hard-core feminist sophomore at Cabot college. She leads a small group of women who don’t want men at their school. Also co-starring in the series is The Fosters’ Brandon Jones, Chelsea Lately’s Fortune Feimster and Broadway actor Jack Cutmore-Scott.

The News of Cho joining the cast was met with excitement from her new fellow castmates. Many of them sent her tweets of congratulations on Twitter.

Cho showed her own excitement about it on Twitter as well.

The series will appear on Fox and production begins on it in March.
