Professional dancer Maksim “Maks” Chmerkovskiy and his partner Olympic gold medalist and ice skater Meryl Davis were named the champions for the 18th season of Dancing with the Stars.

When their names were announced, the two almost kissed, sparking rumors that they are dating. However, neither of them have confirmed or denied the rumors.

Val Chmerkovskiy, Maks’ brother who is also on the show, said that his brother has never adored another woman as much as he adores Davis. “She’s precious, and he’s gentle with her because he wants to see her shine and he won’t want to hurt her,” Val said. “He definitely loves her, and I know she loves him back,” he continued.

In an interview with US Weekly, Davis said that participating in the show was very challenging for her. “You get to know people in really fun moments and in really challenging moments,” she said. Davis also said that many of the relationships from the show continue to flourish even after the show is over. Many are thinking that her statement may refer to her possible romantic involvement with Chmerkovskiy.

Chmerkovskiy and Davis’ partnership was successful from the start of the show. Their efforts and undeniable chemistry propelled them to the finals where they went against paralympian Amy Purdy and Derek Hough.

Fans of the show also noticed that having Davis as a partner made Chmerkovskiy change. Instead of having a tough exterior, like what he has been showing the previous seasons, fans got a glimpse of his softer side this season.

Dr. Lillian Glass, a body language expert, reported that Chmerkovskiy is protective of Davis, and that they have a real romance going on. “They are completely connected and their chemistry is undeniable. She is more soft spoken and Maks is out there front and center,” Dr. Glass said.

When asked if they will keep on dancing after the show, Chmerkovskiy answered, “We will, but not immediately, not right now!”

I don’t watch this program, not really interested, but doesn’t this seem like sort of stacking the deck against the other competitors? Two professional dancers (ok stretch the concept a bit for the ice skater) have an edge over the others when they walk in the door. That’s not really fair and it’s not really a competition if you are pitting professionals against non-professionals—-that’s cheating, that’s unfair, that’s wrong, but that’s entertainment in America. Sad fact there.

Not being sarcastic, but your comment is so ridiculous. What isn’t fair? They ask well known people to perform, some are better than others. Should they screen all of the contestants and only choose people with two left feet? We would be a better nation if people like you would stop thinking in terms of fairness. Life is what you make of it. Some work harder, some don’t. Meryl worked her butt off her whole life to be the dancer she is. Did the others on the show do that?

Though, if you think about it, your last two sentences kinda prove the point of the person you’re replying to. While I don’t doubt that she legitimately WAS the best this season, the fact that Meryl has been dancing “her whole life” and that the others on the show haven’t been certainly gave her a competitive edge over someone like Candace Cameron Bure(a non-athlete) or the parapalegic snowboarder(athlete, but not dancer & missing two limbs).

There are a lot of stars who have some (or a lot!) of dancing experience. Every season there are singers, and almost all of them dance on stage while singing. They do have an undeniable advantage, but they’re not shoe-ins. Charlie White had the same experience and didn’t make it to the finals.

If you watched the show you’d know the best dancers often don’t win. It is a popularity contest since the public votes. Some really horrible dancers have gone quite far. I rarely watch but the surprising thing to me is that this year two relative unknowns were in the finals.

It seems like he does this with a lot of his dance partners , he went out with the General Hospital star for awhile and was his so called true love now her ! I still think that the Olympian should have won but like everyone says it is not much about dancing more about popularity and who has the most fans. I liked Candace Cameron Bure too! She did great too!

Make did not dance with the star from GH, his brother, Val danced with Kelly Monaco.

Meryl would be a FANTASTIC addition to the permanent cast of professional dancers on DWTS! (Just saying! She’s so Incredibly Gifted! An Olympic Gold medalist in Ice dancing… Phenomenal)…. Producers should grab her up!

But she’s NOT a Professional dancer. She is an ice dancer and a very hard worker – as is Charlie
