GIFs now power the internet. Can you even imagine trying to accurately express your emotions or reactions without them? The format is so popular now, that the Oxford American Dictionaries recently named GIF their word of the year. It beat out YOLO, so you know it has to be pretty important.

Graphics Interchange Format is 25 years old and still going strong. Director Sean Pecknold produced this awesome stop-motion video history for “Moving the Still: A Gif Festival.”
