  • Since Dylan Farrow wrote that detailed description of being molested by her adopted father Woody Allen in the New York Times, opinions have been coming in from all over.

Some have championed Farrow’s decision to once again speak out about the alleged molestation, and others have said that Allen needs to be left alone, since the allegations were looked into many years ago and nothing was actually proven.

And now Lena Dunham, of “Girls” fame, has chimed in and tweeted support for Farrow and her decision to speak out. “To share in this way is courageous, powerful and generous,” she wrote, and she encouraged everyone to read the New York Times article for themselves.

Dunham also spoke out against the people, specifically the guys, who feel Allen might be the victim of false accusations. “In wake of Dylan’s letter, I’ve noticed a lot of guys obsessed with the idea of being falsely accused,” she tweeted.

“As if you would just be walking down the street one day, get accused of assault or sexual misconduct, and suddenly life would derail….Though there have of course been plenty of terrible and unjust cases in the past, remember, most victims never speak up. Most never feel they can. These are not stories we tell for fun, attention or revenge.”

Cate Blanchett, who starred in Allen’s film “Blue Jasmine,” also commented on the recent allegations, although she’s been accused by some of showing indifference to Farrow’s molestation charges by working with Allen.

“It’s obviously a long and painful situation for the family and I hope they find some resolution and peace,” she said.

Elkan Abramowitz, Allen’s publicist, said he’s baffled at why people are still paying attention to these charges, since they’ve already been investigated. “At the time, a thorough investigation was conducted by court appointed independent experts,” he said.

“The experts concluded there was no credible evidence of molestation; that Dylan Farrow had an inability to distinguish between fantasy and reality; and that Dylan Farrow had likely been coached by her mother Mia Farrow. No charges were ever filed.”
