The much-talked about Lady Gaga & the Muppets’ Holiday Spectacular finally aired and well, it flopped. According to TV by the Numbers, the Thanksgiving special garnered a paltry 0.9 viewer rating with adults 18-49. This means that a large number of U.S. viewers did not tune in and comments such as these from those who did:

didn’t help at all.

As earlier reported by us, the show featured Lady Gaga performing with acts intriguing in their own way– RuPaul, Elton John, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and of course, the Muppets. Even with their help, it didn’t do well with television viewers. Maybe a little behind-the-scenes tension between Gaga and Miss Piggy would have helped, or maybe this one will take a while for America to appreciate.

We’ll see if it becomes a cult hit in the future.

Ref Lady Gaga and The Muppets –

ABC you have got to be kidding – inappropriate for Kids. What a lapse in judgement ! Cleavage and transvestites during prime time w Muppets ????? Really ? Which VP signed off on this one – bet lots of fingerprinting will be happening on Monday.

I was disgusted . It was totally inappropriate. I grew up watching the muppet show but that was a prime example of moral decay & what the USA is turning into. It appears that a
Spirit of STUPID has crept its way from the White house to primetime t v. Las Vegas has more common sense than ABC. At least what happens there stays there. Quit trying to shove your immorality on our children as if it’s ok. America, we are a sleeping giant that needs to wake up and get back to the fundamentals of our founding fathers. When you take GOD out of the picture this is what
    you end up with.

When you take God out of the picture you end up with RuPaul in a Muppets special? That doesn’t sound like a worst-case scenario.

I liked it. It was nice to see Lady Gaga acting normally.

Come on, man!! Lady Gaga claimed to be a child Muppet fan, just like me. Where is her moral obligation to sing songs that mirror what she heard as a child? I don’t remember any of the guest performer’s lyrics saying “Touch me in the dark. Put your hands all over my body parts.” The adult humor of The Muppets has always been tasteful and someone should ensure it remains so. If Miley Cyrus is next, I would hope the skit of her and Piggy twerking is saved for the right audience. I am still enthusiastically sharing The Muppets movies with children and hope the future movies stay true to teaching kids about working hard to get their show on Broadway and supporting friends by accepting them no matter frog, pig, bear, chicken, or whatever. Have whatever guest you want but understand Muppet fans have been conditioned to expect family friendly performances.

Completely slutty outfits. I was watching with my tweenagers and turned the channel when she came out in nude colored bra and thong – the first few minutes of the show. Even my kids were appalled. Shame on you Gaga. I’m a fan no longer.
