  • Kerry Washington is always stylish and looking beautiful at those red carpet events! On Friday, Washington talked to Access Hollywood about her personal style and the style of her “Scandal” character, Olivia Pope at the “Project Runway” season finale during New York Fashion Week.

“My own personal style in life is really based on comfort,” said Washington. “I’m a jeans and like, James Perse T-shirt kind of girl. But on the carpet, I like to have a lot of fun.” She added: “I think of red carpet moments as creative endeavors – a moment to have an artful endeavor.”

After revealing her own style to Access Hollywood, Washington then moved on to talk about her character’s style, which she happens to love!

“One of the things I really love about Olivia Pope is I really got to bring a lot of my fashion wisdom to the character in working with the costume designer… I love her fashion,” she said. “When people come up to me in the street and say, ‘I want Olivia’s closet,’ I say, ‘Me too!’

“One of the things I like about it is that it’s not how I dress. Olivia really has her own way of dressing that’s really clear in my mind,” she continued. “I know when I put something on whether it’s Olivia or not. And it helps me to get in character.”

Washington made her runway debut at the event wearing super high red patent pumps and a floral Stella McCartney dress. You would have never guessed that this was Washington’s first time on the catwalk. She looked like a natural! She then joined the “Project Runway” judges, Nina Garcia, Zac Posen and Heidi Klum to critique the season 12 finalists.

For all you “Scandal” fans out there: “Scandal” Season 3 will premiere on October 3 at 10/9c on ABC.
