Kelly Clarkson is not letting criticism about her weight get her down. Instead, the singer if focusing on what is important in life — her daughter.

In an interview for a Redbook magazine cover piece, in which she poses along with her eight-month olde daughter, River Rose, Kelly Clarkson shared her thoughts on her body.

"I don't obsess about my weight, which is probably one of the reasons why other people have such a problem with it," she said. "There are just some people who are born skinny and with a great metabolism–that is not me. I wish I had a better metabolism. But someone else probably wishes they could walk into a room and make friends with everyone like I can. You always want what someone else has."

Not only is she comfortable in her own skin, Kelly Clarkson is happy as a clam with her baby girl and her loving husband, Brandon Blackstock, which is quite a departure from how she grew up. According to Kelly Clarkson, she never had a strong male role model in her life following the divorce of her parents when she was only six.

"Brandon is not my other half. He's a whole and I'm a whole," Kelly Clarkson told the magazine. "I've never believed in someone taking care of me, and that's probably because I grew up poor and without a lot of family stability....I always swore ours would not be a relationship where we have to schedule sex. That is never going to happen. We put each other first. I call it the oxygen-mask mentality -- take care of yourself first!"
