  • Katy Perry teased fans this week with a glimpse at her upcoming music video Dark Horse. The third single from her new album, Prism, it is already sweeping the radio waves and climbing the music charts. In it she channels the fashion and hairstyle of Cleopatra.

“According to legend there was a magic queen in Memphis, Egypt,” reads a scroll at the beginning of the Egyptian-themed clip. “Every eclipse, kids would travel from Brooklyn to Babylon to win her heart. If she fell in love, you’d be top dawg. If she didn’t, her wrath would leave you whimpering. Her name is Katy Pätra.”

Perry sports a crazy–almost bizarre looking–grill in the video, and that’s what first captures viewer’s attention when the door opens to reveal her. She is dressed as the aforementioned pharaoh.

Juciy J–the rapper featured in the Dark Horse track, had the following to say about Katy Perry.

“She’s really a genius,” he said. “She was by the mixing board and telling the guy what to take in and take out. She’s really hands-on with her music. She knows music.”

The music video featuring Katy Perry and her hit single Dark Horse is set to premiere on February 20th–but given the penchant for track and video leaks recently–who knows? Fans might get to see it even earlier than that.

Katy Perry shared her pharaoh persona with her fans in the form of a Twitter Valentine on Friday.

Practically everything Katy Perry has touched in the past couple of years has turned to gold. Even her beau John Mayer seems to be morphing into a decent guy, and that’s something no one ever expected to see. Will the Dark Horse music video only add to Katy’s huge successes in her life–and her music career?

    Yes. Without a doubt.
