Katherine Timpf is the Fox News contributor who made an on-air Star Wars jab last month. As a result of that jab, she has received both death and rape threats. Despite those threats, Katherine Timpf refuses to apologize.

In an essay for the National Review that was published on Tuesday, Katherine Timpf wrote, "A lot of people are clearly a lot of upset. But guess what? I’m not apologizing. Why? Because the all-too-common knee-jerk reaction of apologizing for harmless jokes after overblown hysteria is ruining our culture. This political-correctness obsession threatens free speech, and I absolutely refuse to be a part of it."

Here's what Timpf said last month that has people up in arms--and making illegal threats. It was on Fox's late night offering, Red Eye, that she made the following comments. The satirical show airs at 3 a.m., and isn't meant to be taken seriously.

"I have never had any interest in watching space nerds poke each other with their little space nerd sticks, and I’m not going to start now. You people are crazy. You Star Wars people are crazy. Yesterday I tweeted something, and all I said was that I wasn’t familiar with Star Wars because I’ve been too busy liking cool things and being attractive--people threatened my life."

"Even if my intent wasn’t obvious from that, the fact that Red Eye is a satirical talk show should have been a crucial clue," Katherine Timpf continued in Tuesday's essay. "I was clearly playing a character, and anyone who would have bothered to google the show before saying I should be raped would have realized that."

On Wednesday, in spite of the death threats, Katherine Timpf took to Twitter to share her thoughts.

What's your take on Katherine Timpf's comments on political correctness? She really makes an excellent point. Surely there are some lines that should never be crossed, with regard to people's color, religious beliefs, or origin. However comments about topics like Star Wars--it's not real, people--shouldn't stir up anger to the point of threatening death and/or rape.
