Katey Sagal To Star In “Pitch Perfect” Sequel

By: Amanda Crum - May 15, 2014

Katey Sagal is best known these days as the badass motorcycle mama Gemma Teller on Sons Of Anarchy, but she’s also an accomplished musician, and she’s taking her talents to a feature film.

The actress will star in Pitch Perfect 2 as newcomer Hailee Steinfeld’s mother; Anna Kendrick, Brittany Snow, and Rebel Wilson will all be reprising their roles for the sequel. The first film was a breakout hit in 2012, pulling in $115 million with just a $17 million budget. The film, about a college freshman who joins a female a cappella group and helps lead them to success, helped propel Anna Kendrick’s career and saw the soundtrack go platinum.

The sequel will be directed by Elizabeth Banks, who went from indie darling to full-fledged movie star with roles in The Hunger Games and Walk Of Shame.

“Elizabeth originated the idea for Pitch Perfect and was instrumental in making the first film such a huge success,” said Universal Pictures chairman Donna Langley. “She brings an enormous amount of energy and experience to everything she works on and we’re thrilled that she is making her feature directorial debut on Pitch Perfect 2.”

Sagal is currently touring the country for her new album, Covered.

She’s a singer AND an actress, having starred in such TV shows
as Married…With Children, 8 Simple Rules for Dating My Teenage Daughter, and Sons of Anarchy, plus several made for cable movies. Google that.
