  • It’s going to be quite the happy Christmas this year for Kate Winslet.

The actress and her husband of one year, Ned Rocknroll, welcomed a baby boy on Saturday, December 7th at a hospital in Sussex, England

This is the first child for the couple. Winslet has two children, daughter Mia, 13, from her relationship with filmmaker Jim Threapleton, and son Joe, 9, with filmmaker Sam Mendes.

Publicist Laura Symons said, “Kate had ‘Baby Boy Winslet’ on Saturday at an NHS Hospital.” Symons added that the actress is “doing great.”

Though no name has been revealed, many are speculating the baby’s last name will be Winslet instead of Rocknroll, given that her spokeswoman referred to the 9 lb. bundle of joy as “Baby Boy Winslet.”

Winslet herself never took Rocknroll’s last name. “I was never going to change my name to Rocknroll. I’ve never changed my name to anything so I didn’t see a reason to start now,” said Winslet.

Multiple media outlets took to their respective Twitter accounts to congratulate the happy couple.

Rocknroll changed his name from Ned Abel Smith and is the nephew of English business magnate Richard Branson. Rocknroll also works for Branson’s Virgin empire in the space-travel branch.

Winslet and Rocknroll met at Branson’s privately owned Necker Island where they were also married in December 2012.

The Oscar-winning actress previously said she has “admiration for mother’s everywhere,” adding, “Being a parent turns you inside out. It completely transforms your life and, of course, your children are your absolute everything.”

Sadly the actress has received some flack for having three children, each with a different man.

In the October issue of Vogue, Winslet said, “People go, ‘Oh, my God! Those poor children! They must have gone through so much.’ Says who? They’ve always been with me. They don’t go from pillar to post; they’re not flown here and there with nannies. That’s never happened. My kids don’t go back and forth; none of this 50/50 time with the mums and dads – my children live with me; that is it. That is it!”

Fans of Winslet will be seeing her a lot on the big screen in the coming months. Her film Labor Day with Josh Brolin hits theaters January 31, Divergent on March 21, followed by A Little Chaos with Stanley Tucci.
