  • There are a lot of words that could be used to describe Kate Gosselin, but politically correct is not one of them. Kate has been accused of being an overbearing mother, a controlling ex-wife and even a bad employer. She has now stooped to becoming downright offensive.

An email from Kate to her ex-husband Jon was recently leaked. In the email Kate used the word “retarded” to describe some people she and Jon had been talking about.

Robert Hoffman, who is currently writing a book about Kate Gosselin, explained the email saying,

“On December 31, 2006, Jon forwarded Kate an email that he had received the day before from the coordinator of something called the ‘MOST’ forum. (MOST stands for Mothers of Supertwins.) The forum coordinator, ‘Patti T,’ asked Jon if he would post something to introduce himself and his family on the forum. It is not clear why Patti T’s email annoyed Kate, but her curt response to Jon about it is offensive. Kate said, ‘These people are retarded!’”

Kate has always prided herself in being presentable and raising well-rounded and respectful kids that she can take anywhere. What would she do if one of her children used the R-word to describe another child or person?

The email conversation did take place in 2006, so Kate has had some time to think about the words she uses and how they could hurt others.

Kate has not yet released a statement about the leaked email, but the Special Olympics did.

“We’re always saddened and disappointed when we hear people using the R-word. We encourage people to go to R-word.org and take the pledge. It’s important because it’s respect toward everyone,” they said in a statement referring to Kate’s comment.

What do you think of the leaked email? Do you think Kate uses the R-word often or did it just slip out during a moment of frustration?
